Claims (33)
- 身体に少なくとも一つの物体を携帯し、長軸に沿って検査領域を歩いて通過する乗客を走査するためのポータルであって、
漏斗状の入口と、漏斗状の出口と、中央ポータルと、複数の処理ブロックとを備え、
前記漏斗状の入口は、前記長軸に対して第1の角度をなす2つの対向するパネルである第1セットを備え、第1の角度は5度〜85度の範囲にあり、
前記漏斗状の出口は、前記長軸に対して第2の角度をなす2つの対向するパネルである第2セットを備え、第2の角度は5度〜85度の範囲にあり、
前記中央ポータルは、互いに平行であり前記漏斗状の入口と前記漏斗状の出口との間に位置する2つの対向するパネルである第3セットを有し、前記2つの対向するパネルからそれぞれ構成される前記第1セット、前記第2セット及び前記第3セットは、前記検査領域を形成し、かつ複数の送信素子と複数の受信素子を有し、前記送信素子は、前記乗客がポータルを通過するときに前記乗客に向けてマイクロ波ビームを発射し、前記受信素子は、散乱マイクロ波ビームを乗客から受信し、2個以上の送信素子は、同時に動作中になり、乗客がポータルを通過している間、検査領域に対する複数の走査を発生し、
前記複数の処理ブロックは、前記複数の送信素子及び前記複数の受信素子と関連して、散乱マイクロ波ビームを処理して、時間、位相又は周波数ドメイン情報の少なくとも一つを有するデータを出力し、
前記散乱マイクロ波ビームは、少なくとも一つの物体の上面、前記少なくとも一つの物体の後面、及び前記少なくとも一つの物体の前記上面に隣接する前記乗客の一部と前記発射マイクロ波ビームとの相互作用の結果であり、
前記時間、前記位相又は前記周波数ドメイン情報の少なくとも一つは、前記少なくとも一つの物体の位置、形状、大きさ、又は比誘電率を測定するために用いられることを特徴とするポータル。 - 前記第1セットの2つの対向するパネルと、前記第2セットの2つの対向するパネルは、前記長軸に対して第1の角度及び第2の角度でそれぞれ設置され、前記第1の角度及び前記第2の角度は、20度から60度の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記第1セットの2つの対向するパネルと、前記第2セットの2つの対向するパネルと、前記第3セットの2つの対向するパネルは、高さほぼ2mであり、幅が0.4m〜1.0mの範囲であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記第1セットの2つの対向するパネルと、前記第2セットの2つの対向するパネルと、前記第3セットの2つの対向するパネルは、前記乗客の前面、後面、複数の側面を走査するように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記複数の走査は、1秒当たり5乃至100フレームの割合で生成されることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記マイクロ波ビームの周波数は2GHz乃至20GHzの範囲にあることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記複数の送信素子と前記複数の受信素子との各々に接続されたアンテナを有し、前記アンテナの直径は1cm乃至10cmの範囲であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記複数の送信素子は、連続したラスタースキャンパターンで起動されることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記複数の送信素子は、疑似ランダムスキャンパターンで起動されることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記少なくとも一つの物体は、乗客のリアルタイムビデオ画像に重ね合わせられたアイコンとして表示されることを特徴とする請求項1記載のポータル。
- 前記アイコンは、前記少なくとも一つの物体の危険状態を示すために着色されていることを特徴とする請求項10記載のポータル。
- ポータルの検査領域の長軸に沿って歩いて通過する乗客を走査する方法であって、前記検査領域は、中央ポータルと、漏斗状入口と、漏斗状出口とによって規定され、前記中央ポータルは右パネルと左パネルを有し、前記右パネルと前記左パネルとは実質的に互いに平行に対向し、前記漏斗状入口は、前記中央ポータルの前記右パネルの前端に対して5度乃至85度の角度をなす第1パネルと、前記中央ポータルの前記左パネルの前端に対して5度乃至85度の角度をなす第2パネルとを有し、前記漏斗状出口は、前記中央ポータルの前記右パネルの後端に対して5度乃至85度の角度をなす第1パネルと、前記中央ポータルの前記左パネルの後端に対して5度乃至85度の角度をなす第2パネルとを有し、
前記方法は、
前記中央ポータル、前記漏斗状入口、前記漏斗状出口のそれぞれのパネルに設けられた複数の送信素子から前記乗客にRFビームを発射する工程と、
前記中央ポータル、前記漏斗状入口、前記漏斗状出口のそれぞれのパネルに設けられた複数の受信素子により、前記乗客から散乱したビームを受信する工程と、
前記複数の送信素子及び前記複数の受信素子と関連する複数の処理ブロックを用いて、前記散乱ビームを処理して、時間、位相又は周波数ドメイン情報の少なくとも一つを有するデータを出力する工程と、を備え、
前記発射する工程では、2個以上の送信素子が同時に起動されて、前記乗客がポータルを通過している間に前記検査領域の複数の走査を発生し、
前記受信する工程では、前記散乱ビームは、前記乗客上にある少なくとも一つの物体の上面、前記少なくとも一つの物体の後面、及び前記少なくとも一つの物体の前記上面に隣接する乗客の一部と前記発射RFビームとの相互作用の結果であり、
前記データを出力する工程では、前記時間、前記位相、又は前記周波数ドメイン情報の少なくとも一つは、前記少なくとも一つの物体の位置、形状、大きさ、又は比誘電率を測定するために用いられることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記漏斗状入口及び前記漏斗状出口のそれぞれの前記第1パネル及び前記第2パネルの前記角度は、20度乃至60度の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項12記載の方法。
- 前記中央ポータル、前記漏斗状入口、前記漏斗状出口のそれぞれの前記パネルは、高さがほぼ2mであり、幅が0.4m乃至1.0mの範囲であることを特徴とする請求項12記載の方法。
- 前記中央ポータル、前記漏斗状入口、前記漏斗状出口のそれぞれの前記パネルは、実質的には前記乗客の前面、後面、複数の側面を走査することを特徴とする請求項12記載の方法。
- 前記複数の走査は、1秒当たり5乃至100フレームの割合で生成されることを特徴とする請求項12記載の方法。
- 前記RFビームの周波数は2GHz乃至20GHzの範囲にあることを特徴とする請求項12記載の方法。
- 前記複数の送信素子と受信素子との各々に接続されたアンテナを有し、前記アンテナの直径は1cm乃至10cmの範囲にあることを特徴とする請求項12記載の方法。

- ポータルの検査領域の長軸に沿って歩いて通過する乗客を走査する方法であって、前記検査領域は、2つのパネルでそれぞれ構成される第1セット、第2セット、第3セットによって規定され、前記第1セットと前記第2セットのそれぞれの前記パネルは、前記長軸に対して角度をなして設置されて、それぞれが前記ポータルの入口と出口を形成し、
前記方法は、
前記第1セット、前記第2セット、前記第3セットのそれぞれのパネルに設けられた複数の送信素子から前記乗客にRFビームを発射する工程を有し、前記発射する工程では、2個以上の送信素子が同時に起動されて、前記乗客が前記ポータルを通過している間検査領域に対する複数の走査を発生し、
さらに、前記第1セット、前記第2セット、前記第3セットのそれぞれのパネルに設けられた複数の受信素子により、前記乗客から散乱されたビームを受信する工程を有し、前記受信する工程では、前記散乱ビームは、前記乗客上にある少なくとも一つの物体の上面、前記少なくとも一つの物体の後面、及び前記少なくとも一つの物体の前記上面に隣接する乗客の一部と前記発射されたRFビームとの相互作用の結果であり、
さらに、前記複数の送信素子及び前記複数の受信素子と関連する複数の処理ブロックを用いて、前記散乱ビームを処理し、前記少なくとも一つの物体の上面からの散乱ビームの受信と前記後面からの散乱ビームの受信との時間差を反映するデータを出力する工程を備え、前記時間差は、前記少なくとも一つの物体の比誘電率を測定するために用いられることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記第1セット、前記第2セットのそれぞれの前記パネルの前記角度は、20度乃至60度の範囲であることを特徴とする請求項23記載の方法。
- 前記第1セット、前記第2セット、前記第3セットのそれぞれの前記パネルは、ほぼ2mの高さであり、幅が0.4m乃至1.0mの範囲であることを特徴とする請求項23記載の方法。
- 前記第1セット、前記第2セット、前記第3セットのそれぞれの前記パネルは、実質的には前記乗客の前面、後面、複数の側面を走査することを特徴とする請求項23記載の方法。
- 前記複数の走査は、1秒当たり5乃至100フレームの割合で生成されることを特徴とする請求項23記載の方法。
- 前記RFビームの周波数は2GHz乃至20GHzの範囲にあることを特徴とする請求項23記載の方法。
