Abstract
Description
厚さ40μmのポリウレタンフィルムの両面に、20μmの厚さのポリビニルアルコールフィルム(日本合成社、M2000グレード)を付着させてフィルム積層体を製造した。その後、前記フィルム積層体を、25℃の純水溶液で15秒間膨潤(swelling)させた後、0.3wt%の濃度および25℃のヨウ素溶液で60秒間染着工程を進行させた。その後、前記フィルム積層体をホウ酸1wt%溶液で15秒間洗浄した後、50℃のホウ酸2wt%溶液で6倍延伸工程を進行させた。延伸後、5wt%のKI溶液で補色工程を経た後、80℃のオーブンで5分間乾燥工程を進行させた。その後、ポリウレタンフィルムとポリビニルアルコールフィルムを分離して、最終的に厚さ5.6μmの薄型偏光子を製造した。
膨潤工程を10秒間実施した点を除いては、実施例と同様の方法で厚さ5.8μmの薄型偏光子を製造した。
膨潤工程を20秒間実施した点を除いては、実施例と同様の方法で厚さ5.4μmの薄型偏光子を製造した。
膨潤工程を除いて直ちに染着工程を進行させた点を除いては、実施例と同様の方法で偏光子を製造した。
前記実施例および比較例1〜2により製造された薄型偏光子の膨潤率、単体透過度、偏光度および単体色相、直交色相などの光学物性を、JASCO V−7100Spectrophotometerで測定した。測定結果は表1に示した。
厚さ40μmのポリウレタンフィルムの両面に、20μmの厚さのポリビニルアルコールフィルム(日本合成社、M2000グレード)を付着させてフィルム積層体を製造した。その後、前記フィルム積層体を、25℃の純水溶液で滞留時間を変更させながら膨潤度を測定して、膨潤槽滞留時間に応じたポリビニルアルコール系フィルムの膨潤度を計算した。その結果は図2に示した。図2のグラフに示されているように、膨潤度をx、膨潤槽滞留時間をt秒とする時、下記の式(3)のような関係式が成立することが分かる。

Claims (10)
- 高分子フィルムの少なくとも一面に、引力または接着剤を用いてポリビニルアルコール系フィルムを付着させてフィルム積層体を形成するステップと、
前記ポリビニルアルコール系フィルムの膨潤度が0.36〜0.44となるように、前記フィルム積層体を膨潤させるステップと、
前記フィルム積層体にヨウ素および二色性染料のうちの少なくとも1つを染着させるステップと、
前記フィルム積層体を延伸するステップとを含むことを特徴とする、薄型偏光子の製造方法。 - 前記フィルム積層体を膨潤させるステップは、膨潤槽滞留時間をt秒とする時、下記の式(2)を満足するように行われることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の薄型偏光子の製造方法。
式(2):0.36≦0.105・t0.5≦0.44 - 前記ポリビニルアルコール系フィルムは、厚さが10μm〜60μmであることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の薄型偏光子の製造方法。
- 前記延伸するステップは、5倍〜15倍の延伸倍率で行われることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の薄型偏光子の製造方法。
- 前記延伸するステップは、45℃〜55℃の温度で行われることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の薄型偏光子の製造方法。
- 前記延伸するステップは、ホウ酸濃度が1〜5%のホウ酸水溶液で行われることを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の薄型偏光子の製造方法。
- 前記延伸するステップの後に、前記高分子フィルムとポリビニルアルコール系フィルムを分離するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の薄型偏光子の製造方法。
- 前記延伸するステップの後に、延伸されたフィルム積層体を乾燥するステップをさらに含むことを特徴とする、請求項1に記載の薄型偏光子の製造方法。
- 請求項1〜8のいずれか1項に記載の製造方法により製造され、
厚さが10μm以下であり、
単体透過度が40%〜45%であり、
偏光度が99.9%以上であることを特徴とする、ポリビニルアルコール系薄型偏光子。 - 請求項9に記載のポリビニルアルコール系薄型偏光子を含むことを特徴とする、偏光板。
