Description
洗浄工程は、アルコールを1〜50重量%およびヨウ化化合物を0.5〜10重量%含有する水溶液により行うことを特徴とする偏光子の製造方法、に関する。
原反フィルムとして、厚さ75μmのポリビニルアルコールフィルム(平均重合度2400,ケン化度99.9モル%)を用いた。当該ポリビニルアルコールフィルムに、下記の順番にて、下記各工程を施した。
膨潤浴の処理液としては、純水を用いた。上記ポリビニルアルコールフィルムを膨潤浴に搬送し、30℃に調整した純水中に1分間浸漬し、膨潤させた。
染色浴の処理液としては、ヨウ素:ヨウ化カリウム(重量比=1:7)の濃度3.2重量%のヨウ素染色溶液を用いた。上記膨潤処理されたポリビニルアルコールフィルムを染色浴に搬送し、30℃に調整した前記ヨウ素染色溶液に、30秒間浸漬しながら、元長に対して延伸倍率3.4倍まで、一軸延伸しながら、染色した。
架橋浴の処理液としては、ホウ酸を3重量%、ヨウ化カリウムを3重量%含有するホウ酸水溶液を用いた。上記処理されたポリビニルアルコールフィルムを架橋浴に搬送し、30℃に調整した前記ホウ酸水溶液に、10秒間浸漬しながら、元長に対して総延伸倍率3.6倍まで、一軸延伸した。
延伸浴の処理液としては、ホウ酸を4重量%、ヨウ化カリウムを5重量%含有するホウ酸水溶液を用いた。上記処理されたポリビニルアルコールフィルムを延伸浴に搬送し、60℃に調整したホウ酸水溶液に、60秒間浸漬しながら、元長に対して総延伸倍率6倍まで、一軸延伸した。
洗浄浴(第一洗浄浴)の処理液としては、ヨウ化カリウムを3重量%、エタノール7重量%を含有する水溶液を用いた。上記処理されたポリビニルアルコールフィルムを洗浄浴に搬送し、30℃に調整した当該水溶液に、10秒間浸漬した。
次いで、上記処理されたポリビニルアルコール系フィルムを、60℃のオーブンで4分間乾燥して、偏光子を得た。
実施例1において、第一洗浄浴の処理液に用いた水溶液におけるヨウ化カリウム濃度およびアルコールの種類、濃度を表1に示すように変えたこと以外は、実施例1と同条件で偏光子を作製した。
(洗浄工程)
第一洗浄浴の処理液として、ヨウ化カリウム3重量%を含有する水溶液を用いた。上記処理されたポリビニルアルコールフィルムを第一洗浄浴に搬送し、30℃に調整した当該水溶液に、10秒間浸漬した。第二洗浄浴の処理液として、エタノール7重量%を含有する水溶液を用いた。次いで、第二洗浄浴に搬送し、30℃に調整した当該水溶液に、10秒間浸漬した。
比較例4において、第二洗浄浴の処理液のエタノール濃度を99.5重量%に変え、浸漬時間を5分間に変えたこと以外は、比較例4と同条件で偏光子を作製した。
比較例4において、染色工程での染色浴の処理液として、ヨウ素:ヨウ化カリウム(重量比=1:7)の濃度3.8重量%のヨウ素染色溶液を用いたこと、第二洗浄浴の処理液のエタノール濃度を99.5重量%に変え、浸漬時間を5分間に変えたこと以外は、比較例4と同条件で偏光子を作製した。
偏光子の光学特性を、積分球付き分光光度計(日本分光株式会社製のV7100)にて測定した。各直線偏光に対する透過率はグランテラ‐プリズム偏光子を通して得られた完全偏光を100%として測定した。単体透過率、平行透過率(H0)および直交透過率(H90)を、波長550nmで測定し、その値から下記式により偏光度を求めた。なお、これらの透過率は、JlSZ 8701の2度視野(C光源)により、視感度補正を行ったY値である。偏光度(%)={(H0−H90)/(H0+H90)}1/2×100
実施例1において、第一洗浄浴の処理液に用いた水溶液におけるヨウ化カリウム濃度およびエタノール濃度を表1に示すように変えたこと以外は、実施例1と同条件で偏光子を作製した。
実施例16〜18、比較例7で得られた偏光子を用いて、下記方法により偏光板を作成した。
透明保護フィルムとしては、厚さ30μmのラクトン化ポリメチルメタクリレートフィルムを用いた。
接着剤としては、N−アクリロイルモルホリン40重量部とヒドロキシエチルアクリルアミド60重量部の混合物を用いた。
得られた偏光板を、長さ50mm、幅150mmに切断し、−40℃で1時間冷却、85℃で1時間加熱を1サイクルとして、150サイクル繰り返した。150サイクル終了後に発生した、クラックの面積(μm2)を測定した。
Claims (2)
- ポリビニルアルコール系フィルムに、染色工程、架橋工程および延伸工程を少なくとも施した後に、洗浄工程を施す偏光子の製造方法において、
洗浄工程は、アルコールを1〜50重量%およびヨウ化化合物を0.5〜10重量%含有する水溶液により行うことを特徴とする偏光子の製造方法。 - アルコールが、炭素数1〜4のアルコールのいずれか少なくとも1種であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の偏光子の製造方法。
