Abstract
Description
本発明は、光学イメージングの分野に関し、より具体的には、光学コヒーレンス断層撮影(OCT;optical coherence tomography)と、超音波などの他の光学イメージングとのための光ファイバプローブの設計に関する。
近年、突然の心臓発作(急性心筋梗塞またはAMI)の潜在的な原因は、多くの注目の対象であった。冠動脈のゆるやかな閉塞のより古くからの支配的な説は、AMIが冠動脈壁の破裂、特に「易損性プラーク(vulnerable plaque)」の破裂の結果であるという広範囲にわたる組織病理学的な証拠に基づいた新しい理論によって取って代られている。易損性プラークはまた、薄いキャップを被せられた繊維性組織アルセローマ(TCFA;Thin−Capped Fibro−Artheroma)として知られており、動脈壁の下に位置する脂質プールを覆っている薄い繊維状のキャップによって特徴付けられる。従来のエックス線検査ベースの血管造影撮影法の技術は、動脈が狭くなることを検出するために用いられ得る。しかしながら、TCFAを検出するために、動脈壁の表面を直接的に観察することは必須である。従って、表面下の生物学的組織および脂質プールを検出し、そして視覚化することを可能にするプローブ設計に対するニーズが存在している。
本発明は、光および音響技術を用いて、生物学的組織および他の材料を画像化するための方法および装置に関する。光学コヒーレンス断層撮影(OCT)と、干渉測定イメージング技術と、血管内超音波法(IVUS;Intravascular Ultrasound)との組み合わせは、理想的に、小口径のプローブを介する動脈壁などの生物学的組織の表面下の視覚化に適している。開示される方法は、各個々の技術の弱点を有利に克服するIVUS(血管内超音波法)技術とOCT(光学コヒーレンス断層撮影)技術との組み合わせに基づく。特に、IVUSとOCTとの両方の組み合わせは、多くの利点を有するロバストなプローブを可能にする。

Claims (1)
- 光−音響メージングデバイスが実行する血管のイメージング方法であって:
超音波センサと光学コヒーレンス断層撮像センサを有する回転可能なプローブを供する手順;
前記回転可能なプローブを回転させる手順;
前記血管に関する第1組の画像データが収集されるように超音波イメージングを実行する手順;
前記血管に関する第2組の画像データが収集されるように光学コヒーレンスイメージングを実行する手順;
前記血管を介して前記回転可能なプローブを引き戻す手順;及び、
OCT画像とIVUS画像を融合して複合画像を生成することにより、前記第1組の画像データの断面像と前記第2組の画像データの断面像とを一緒に登録する手順であって、前記第1組の画像データの断面像及び前記第2組の画像データの断面像の外側の境界がOCTの浸透限界の近傍に実質的に設定され、前記OCT画像部分は前記複合画像の中央部分に現れ、前記IVUS画像部分は前記複合画像の周辺部分に現れる、手順、
