Abstract
【解決手段】熱処理装置は、シリカガラス製の炉心管と、炉心管に隣接して設けられ、加熱領域を加熱する加熱ヒータと、多孔質ガラス母材を支持するとともに、加熱ヒータにより加熱領域を加熱した状態で、炉心管の内部において多孔質ガラス母材を加熱ヒータに対し相対的に移動させて加熱領域を通過させる移動機構とを備え、炉心管における、加熱領域に位置する部分に隣接する領域に、加熱領域に位置する部分のガラスの肉厚よりも薄肉である薄肉部を有することを特徴とする。

Description
内径374mm、加熱ヒータ2の下端位置より上部のガラス厚8mm、下端位置より下のガラス厚4mmである、新しい炉心管4をガラス母材熱処理装置1に取り付けた。炉心管4の内圧を大気圧に保った状態で、加熱ヒータ2で加熱処理(エージング処理)を行った。加熱処理は、加熱温度1300℃、加熱時間240時間実施した。加熱処理後、炉心管4は、図4に示した加熱ヒータ2の内側の加熱領域20でガラスが結晶化した(図4中の参照番号42)。
内径374mm、ガラス厚8mmである、新しい炉心管4をガラス母材熱処理装置1に取り付けた。炉心管4の内圧を大気圧に保った状態で、加熱ヒータ2で加熱処理(エージング処理)を行った。加熱処理は、加熱温度1300℃、加熱時間240時間実施した。加熱処理後、炉心管4は、実施例と同様、図6に示した加熱ヒータ2の内側の加熱領域20でガラスが結晶化した(図6中の参照番号42)。

Claims (5)
- シリカガラス製の炉心管と、
前記炉心管に隣接して設けられ、加熱領域を加熱する加熱ヒータと、
多孔質ガラス母材を支持するとともに、前記加熱ヒータにより前記加熱領域を加熱した状態で、前記炉心管の内部において前記多孔質ガラス母材を前記加熱ヒータに対し相対的に移動させて前記加熱領域を通過させる移動機構と
を備える熱処理装置であって、
前記炉心管における、前記加熱領域に位置する部分に隣接する領域に、前記加熱領域に位置する部分のガラスの肉厚よりも薄肉である薄肉部を有する
ことを特徴とする熱処理装置。 - 前記薄肉部のガラスの厚さが、加熱領域の炉心管のガラスの厚さの75%以下であることを特徴とする請求項1に記載の熱処理装置。
- 前記薄肉部のガラスの肉厚が、4mm〜6mmであることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載の熱処理装置。
- 前記加熱領域を通過する際の前記多孔質ガラス母材の移動方向に関し前記加熱領域の下流に隣接する領域である下流領域に、前記薄肉部を有することを特徴とする請求項1から3のいずれか1項に記載の熱処理装置。
- 前記炉心管における前記加熱領域に位置する部分は、予め加熱ヒータより加熱されてガラスが結晶化されていることを特徴とする請求項1から4のいずれか1項に記載の熱処理装置。
