Abstract
Description
なお、未装着時のリップ間距離が2.0mm未満の場合は、前記空間部を大きく確保できなくなる。また、装着状態における第1シールリップの先端部の外径方向への移動量が前記リップ間距離の40%を超えると、前記空間部が狭められることになる。
これによれば、軸受装置に対する装着状態における前記リップ間距離が1.0mm以上であることにより、前記空間部を大きく確保でき、また、前記空間部に浸入した泥水等が、外側部材及び内側部材の相対的同軸回転に伴い外部に排出し易くなる。
これによれば、第1シールリップ及び第2シールリップがスリンガ部材に弾接するから、スリンガ部材として表面滑性の良い材料で構成するようにすれば、第1シールリップ及び第2シールリップの先端部の摩耗を抑えることができ、また、回転トルクの低減化にも寄与する。
これによれば、被密封空間部の径方向寸法が小さい軸受装置であっても、耐泥水性能が低下せず、軸受装置のコンパクト化に寄与する。
なお、本明細書において、図1の紙面右側を車輪側、左側を車体側と言う。
因みに、未装着時状態のリップ間距離d0が2.0mm未満の場合は、前記空間部LSを大きく確保できなくなる。また、前記移動量d2が未装着状態のリップ間距離d0の40%を超えると、空間部LSが狭められることになる。さらに、装着状態のリップ間距離d1が1.0mm未満の場合、空間部LSが小さくなって第1シールリップ11の先端部11aに対する泥水等のアタックを遅延させる効果が減退すると共に、空間部LSに浸入した泥水等の外部への排出がし難くなる。
泥塩水試験は、本実施形態のベアリングシール8をハブベアリング1に装着し、ハブ輪4を所定回転数で回転させながら、所定の濃度の泥塩水を所定の噴射量(量/時間)で第2シールリップ12のハブフランジ41に対する弾性摺接部位に向け噴射し、噴射開始からベアリングシール8から泥塩水が漏れ出す(軸受空間BS側に滲出する)までの時間を計測し、これを耐泥水時間とした。(c)は本実施形態に係る実験例の試験結果(耐泥水時間)及び比較例の試験結果(耐泥水時間)に基づき各試験品の耐泥水性能を表しており、耐泥水性能が高い程、耐泥水時間が長く、耐泥水性能が低い程、耐泥水時間が短いことを表している。
なお、ハブフランジ41の立ち上がり部分41aにおける凹曲面状のRが大きい場合等において、第1シールリップ11及び第2シールリップ12が共に凹曲面状の部分に弾接する場合でも、上記条件を満たせば、同様の効果が得られる。

Claims (4)
- 相対的に同軸回転する外側部材及びフランジ部を有する内側部材を備えた軸受装置における前記外側部材と内側部材との間に装着される密封装置であって、
前記外側部材に嵌合される芯金と、前記芯金に固着された弾性体製のシール部材とを備え、
前記シール部材は、前記フランジ部の立ち上がり部分に弾接する第1シールリップ及び該第1シールリップより外径側で前記フランジ部に弾接する第2シールリップを有し、
前記軸受装置に対する未装着状態における前記第1シールリップの先端部と前記第2シールリップとのリップ間距離が2.0mm以上であり、
前記軸受装置に対する未装着状態から装着状態における前記第1シールリップの先端部の外径方向への移動量が前記リップ間距離の40%以下であることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1に記載の密封装置において、
前記軸受装置に対する装着状態における前記リップ間距離は1.0mm以上であることを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1又は2に記載の密封装置において、
前記内側部材は、当該内側部材に嵌合される嵌合部及び該嵌合部から前記フランジ部に沿って延びる鍔状部を有するスリンガ部材を一構成部として含み、前記第1シールリップは前記スリンガ部材の鍔状部の立ち上がり部分に弾接し、前記第2シールリップは第1シールリップより外径側で前記スリンガ部材の鍔状部に弾接することを特徴とする密封装置。 - 請求項1乃至請求項3のいずれか一項に記載の密封装置において、
前記外側部材及び内側部材の間に形成される環状の被密封空間の径方向寸法は、5.0mm以上9.0mm以下であることを特徴とする密封装置。
