<実施例1>
メチルメタクリレート、α−メチルスチレン、フェニルマレイミド及びメチルアクリレートを下記表1に記載する含量で単量体混合物1000gを準備して、5リットルの反応器に蒸留水2000g、5%ポリビニールアルコール溶液8.4g(POVAL PVA217、Kuraray社)、ホウ酸0.1g、n−オクチルメルカプタン2.5g及び2,2’−アゾビスイソブチロニトリル1.5gと混合して、400rpmで攪拌しながら水相に分散させて懸濁液を製造した。
メチルメタクリレート、α−メチルスチレン、フェニルマレイミド及びメチルアクリレートを下記表1に記載の含量で混合した点を除いては、実施例1と同一の方法で樹脂組成物を製造し、物性の測定結果を共に示した。

上記実施例1ないし2及び比較例1ないし6のような方法で製造された本発明の光学フィルムを用いて、下記のように偏光板を製造した。まず、25μm厚さのPVA偏光子の一面に上記フィルムを置き、他面には60μm厚さのTACフィルム(Fuji社、UZ TAC)を置いた後、その間に変性PVA系水性接着剤を注入して圧着ロール用いて圧着した後、80℃の温度で5分間熱風乾燥して偏光板半製品を製造した。製造された偏光板半製品のアクリルフィルム面に50W/m2・minの条件でコロナ処理を施した後、20μm厚さの粘着剤がコーティングされている離型層を有するPolyester系フィルムをロールラミネーターを用いて貼り合わせ、その反対面であるTACフィルム面には粘着層を有するPolyester系保護フィルムを貼り合わせて偏光板完成品を製造した。このように製造された偏光板の物性は下記に記載する方法で、半製品状態で偏光板の単体透過度、直交透過度及び偏光度を測定し、完成品状態で偏光板のCurlを測定した。測定の結果は、表1に示す。

- アルキルメタクリレート系単量体、スチレン系単量体、フェニルマレイミド系単量体及びアルキルアクリレート系単量体を重合して形成された共重合体を含む光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。
- 前記樹脂組成物は、樹脂組成物内に残留する未反応のフェニルマレイミド系単量体の含量が、全体組成物に対して30ppm以下である請求項1に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。
- 前記樹脂組成物は、ポリカーボネートをさらに含む請求項1に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。
- 前記共重合体は、共重合体100重量部を基準に、
アルキルメタクリレート系単量体70ないし98重量部;
スチレン系単量体0.1ないし10重量部;
フェニルマレイミド系単量体1ないし15重量部;及び
アルキルアクリレート系単量体0.1ないし5重量部を含む請求項1に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。 - 前記フェニルマレイミド系単量体とアルキルアクリレート系単量体との重量比が、2:1ないし7:1である請求項1に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。
- 前記ポリカーボネートの含量は、全体樹脂組成物100重量部を基準に0.1ないし10重量部で含まれる請求項3に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。
- 前記アルキルメタクリレート系単量体は、メチルメタクリレート、エチルメタクリレート、イソプロピルメタクリレート、n−ブチルメタクリレート、t−ブチルメタクリレート、ヒドロキシエチルメタクリレート、イソボルニルメタクリレート及びシクロヘキシルメタクリレートからなる群より選択される少なくとも一つである請求項1に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。

- 前記フェニルマレイミド系単量体は、フェニルマレイミド、ニトロフェニルマレイミド、モノクロロフェニルマレイミド、ジクロロフェニルマレイミド、モノメチルフェニルマレイミド、ジメチルフェニルマレイミド及びエチルメチルフェニルマレイミドからなる群より選択される少なくとも一つである請求項1に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。

- 前記光学フィルム用樹脂組成物は、熱重量分析装置(TGA)で測定した2%重量減少温度が280℃以上のものである請求項1に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物。
- 請求項1ないし請求項12のいずれか一項に記載の光学フィルム用樹脂組成物で製造された光学フィルム。
- 前記光学フィルムは、熱膨張係数が50ないし100ppm/℃である請求項13に記載の光学フィルム。
- 前記光学フィルムは、550nm波長で下記式1で定義される面方向位相差(Rin)の絶対値及び下記式2で定義される厚さ方向位相差(Rth)の絶対値がそれぞれ5nm以下である請求項13に記載の光学フィルム;

前記式1及び式2において、
nxは、光学フィルムの面方向屈折率のうち最大の屈折率であり、
nyは、光学フィルムの面方向屈折率のうちnxに垂直な方向の屈折率であり、
nzは、厚さ方向の屈折率であり、
dは、フィルムの厚さである。 - 前記光学フィルムは、偏光板用保護フィルムである請求項15に記載の光学フィルム。
- 偏光子;及び
前記偏光子の少なくとも一面に配置される請求項13に記載の光学フィルムを含む偏光板。 - 請求項17に記載の偏光板を含む画像表示装置。
