Abstract
Description
本願は、本明細書にその開示が参考として組み込まれている、2013年1月23日出願の米国特許仮出願第61/755,607号「Surgical Instrument with Selectable Integral or External Power Source」に対する優先権を主張する。

いくつかの例において、器具のオペレータは、外科手術の間、器具からバッテリを取外すことができないか、単に、外科手術の間、器具からバッテリを取外そうとしない。例えば、バッテリの電力レベルが許容レベル以下に低下した時、オペレータは、バッテリの切り換え、又はバッテリの再充電の待機を回避するために、迅速にコード付き電源に移行したい場合がある。その理由としては、考えられる時間的制約、無菌状態の懸念、バッテリが取外し不可能又は取外しが比較的難しいことがあり得る。したがって、いくつかの例において、少なくとも当初はバッテリ電源で作動できるが、選択的に、バッテリを器具から取外すことなくコード付き電源で作動できる器具を提供することが望ましい。オペレータが、バッテリの現在の電力レベルに関係なく、バッテリからの電力よりもコード付き電源からの電力の供給を単に希望する場合、オペレータは、オペレータの思い付きでバッテリ電力よりもコード付き電力を選択できることが望ましい場合がある。図11は、コード付き電力で作動するためにバッテリを取外す必要がない、バッテリ電力又はコード付き電力で作動できる例示的な外科用器具(500)を示す。
図13は、上述のプラグ(50、500)の代わりに使用することができる例示的な代替プラグアセンブリ(700)を示す。上述のほかに、プラグアセンブリ(700)が、プラグ(50、500)に関する上述の教示に従って構成され得、及び/又は動作可能であることが理解されよう。本実施例のプラグアセンブリ(700)は、第2のプラグハウジング(704)に接合された第1のプラグハウジング(702)を含む。いくつかの変形例において、単一のプラグハウジングが代わりに使用される。本発明のプラグハウジング(704)は、プラグハウジング(704)が、バッテリ(40)と同様にソケット(20)の中に取外し可能に受容されるように、バッテリ(40)のハウジングと同様に構成されている。プラグハウジング(702)も、バッテリ(40)のハウジングと同様に構成されているが、言うまでもなく任意である。拘束機構(706)が、プラグアセンブリ(700)を器具(10)に対して取外し可能に固定する。単なる一例として、拘束機構(706)は、弾性ラッチ、クリップ、クランプ、及び/又は任意の他の好適な構造体を含み得る。接触及び支持機構(708)は、器具(10)に対するプラグアセンブリ(700)の構造支持と、器具(10)との電気的な導通を提供する。接触及び支持機構(708)が取り得る様々な好適な形態は、本明細書における教示を考慮すれば当業者には明らかになるであろう。
本明細書に記述されている全ての変形例の外科用器具(10)(又は、他の変形例の外科用器具(10))は、モジュラーエンドエフェクタ又はシャフトアセンブリを有するように構成され得る。例えば、外科用器具(10)は、ハンドピース、又は様々な種類のシャフトアセンブリを取外し可能に受容する他の種類の機構を含み得る。このような様々な種類のシャフトアセンブリは、シャフトアセンブリを選択することによって、同じハンドピースを使用した様々な外科モダリティで作動するオプションを外科医に提供できるように、組織ステープル止め機構、超音波ブレード、RFエネルギー電極、外科クリップ適用機構等を有するシャフトアセンブリを含み得る。ハンドピースは、シャフトアセンブリの様々な種類のエンドエフェクタを駆動するように動作可能である機構を含み得る。いくつかの例において、シャフトアセンブリは、同じ外科手術中に同じハンドピース間で交換することができる。ハンドピースは、所望により、再利用可能な構成要素として支給され得るが、シャフトアセンブリは、使い捨て構成要素として支給される。
本明細書に記述されている全ての実施例において、フットスイッチを使用して外科用器具の1つ又は2つ以上の機構を選択的に稼働させ得ることが理解されよう。単なる一例として、このようなフットスイッチは、ジェネレータ(60)に直接に接続され得る。フットスイッチは、オペレータが、単にフットスイッチを稼働させることによって外科用器具の1つ又は2つ以上の機構を選択的に稼働させることを可能にすることができる。加えて又は代替的に、オペレータは、外科用器具の1つ又は2つ以上の機構を選択的に稼働させるために、外科用器具上の1つ又は2つ以上のユーザ入力機構を活性化させ、フットスイッチを同時に活性化する必要があり得る。本明細書の教示に従ったフットスイッチを組み込み得る様々な他の方法は、当業者には明らかになるであろう。
(1) 装置であって、
(a)組織上で作動するように構成されたアクティブ機構を含むエンドエフェクタと、

(ii)電力に対応して前記エンドエフェクタの前記アクティブ機構を駆動する駆動機構と、を含み、前記駆動機構が、前記電力インターフェース機構に接続された電源からの電力に基づいて前記エンドエフェクタの前記アクティブ機構を駆動するように動作可能であるように、前記駆動機構が、前記電力インターフェース機構から電力を受け取るように構成されている、装置。
(2) 前記電力インターフェース機構がソケットを含み、前記ソケットが少なくとも2つの異なる種類の電源ハウジングの一部を差し込み受容するように構成されており、前記少なくとも2つの異なる種類の電源ハウジングが、コードレスバッテリハウジングか、又はコード付き電源ハウジングを含む、実施態様1に記載の装置。
(3) 前記ソケットが、1つ又は2つ以上の電気接点を含み、前記1つ又は2つ以上の電気接点が、前記ソケットに挿入された電源ハウジングの相補型電気接点と係合するように構成されている、実施態様2に記載の装置。
(4) 取外し可能なガイドを更に含み、前記取外し可能なガイドは、電源ハウジングが前記本体の外面の無菌状態を損なうことなく前記電源ハウジングを前記ソケット内に導くように構成されている、実施態様2に記載の装置。
(5) 前記本体が、前記電力インターフェース機構を介してデータを送信するように更に動作可能である、実施態様1に記載の装置。
(7) 前記コード付き電源が、交流電力を直流電力に変換するように構成された整流回路を含む、実施態様6に記載の装置。
(8) 前記整流回路が、トロイダルトランスフォーマと、ダイオードセットと、フィルタリングコンデンサと、デカップリングコンデンサと、を含む、実施態様7に記載の装置。
(9) 前記直流電力出力装置が、約6アンペアで約12ボルトの直流電力出力を供給するように構成されている、実施態様6に記載の装置。
(10) 前記駆動機構が直流電力で作動するように構成されている、実施態様6に記載の装置。
(12) 前記電力インターフェース機構が、前記アダプタの少なくとも一部分を取外し可能に受容するように構成されたソケットを含む、実施態様11に記載の装置。
(13) 前記アダプタが、交流電力を直流電力に変換するように構成された一体型整流回路を含む、実施態様11に記載の装置。
(14) 前記本体と関連付けられたハンドピースグリップを更に含み、前記ハンドピースグリップの少なくとも一部が、前記電力インターフェース機構と接続された電源の少なくとも一部によって形成されている、実施態様1に記載の装置。
(15) 前記電力インターフェース機構が、バッテリが前記本体と接続されている時、コード付き電源から電力を受け取るように構成されている、実施態様1に記載の装置。
(i)ハンドピースと、
(ii)前記ハンドピースに一体化されたバッテリと、を更に含む、実施態様15に記載の装置。
(17) 外科用キットであって、
(a)外科用器具であって、
(i)電源ソケットを有するハンドピースと、
(ii)前記ハンドピースから遠位側に延在するシャフトと、
(iii)前記シャフトの遠位端に配置されたエンドエフェクタと、を含む、外科用器具と、
(b)バッテリであって、前記電源ソケットが、前記バッテリを差し込み受容するように構成されており、前記エンドエフェクタが、前記バッテリが前記電源ソケットに挿入されている時、前記バッテリからの電力に基づいて作動するように構成されている、バッテリと、
(c)第1のプラグと第2のプラグとを有する電力ケーブルであって、前記電源ソケットが前記電力ケーブルの前記第1のプラグを差し込み受容するように構成されており、前記第2のプラグが、外部電源と接続するように構成されており、前記エンドエフェクタが、前記第1のプラグが前記電源ソケットに挿入されている時、前記電力ケーブルを通じて伝達される電力に基づいて作動するように構成されている、電力ケーブルと、を含む、外科用キット。
(18) 前記ハンドピースと取外し可能に係合し、それによって、前記ハンドピースの無菌状態を保持しながら前記バッテリ又は前記第1のプラグを前記電源ソケット内に導くように構成されたガイド部材を更に含む、実施態様17に記載の外科用キット。
(19) 装置であって、
(a)ハンドピースであって、前記ハンドピースが駆動機構を含み、前記ハンドピースが、複数の種類のシャフトアセンブリを取外し可能に受容するように構成され、前記ハンドピースが、少なくとも2つの異なる種類の電源を取外し可能に受容するように構成されており、前記少なくとも2つの異なる種類の電源がコードレスバッテリとコード付き電源とを含む、ハンドピースと、
(b)前記ハンドピースと取外し可能に接続するように構成されたシャフトアセンブリであって、前記シャフトアセンブリが、組織上で作動するように構成されたアクティブ素子を有するエンドエフェクタを有し、前記駆動機構が、前記アクティブ素子を駆動するように動作可能である、シャフトアセンブリと、
(c)前記ハンドピースと取外し可能に接続するように構成され、前記シャフトアセンブリの前記エンドエフェクタの前記アクティブ素子を駆動する電力を供給するように構成された電源と、を含む、装置。
(20) 前記シャフトアセンブリが、前記駆動機構を選択的に稼働させるように動作可能なユーザ入力機構を含む、実施態様19に記載の装置。
Claims (20)
- 装置であって、
(a)組織上で作動するように構成されたアクティブ機構を含むエンドエフェクタと、
(b)近位端と遠位端とを有するシャフトであって、前記シャフトの前記遠位端に前記エンドエフェクタが配置されている、シャフトと、
(c)本体であって、前記シャフトが前記本体から遠位側に延在する、本体と、を含み、前記本体が、
(i)コードレスバッテリとコード付き電源とを含む少なくとも2つの異なる種類の電源から電力を受け取るように構成された電力インターフェース機構と、
(ii)電力に対応して前記エンドエフェクタの前記アクティブ機構を駆動する駆動機構と、を含み、前記駆動機構が、前記電力インターフェース機構に接続された電源からの電力に基づいて前記エンドエフェクタの前記アクティブ機構を駆動するように動作可能であるように、前記駆動機構が、前記電力インターフェース機構から電力を受け取るように構成されている、装置。 - 前記電力インターフェース機構がソケットを含み、前記ソケットが少なくとも2つの異なる種類の電源ハウジングの一部を差し込み受容するように構成されており、前記少なくとも2つの異なる種類の電源ハウジングが、コードレスバッテリハウジングか、又はコード付き電源ハウジングを含む、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記ソケットが、1つ又は2つ以上の電気接点を含み、前記1つ又は2つ以上の電気接点が、前記ソケットに挿入された電源ハウジングの相補型電気接点と係合するように構成されている、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 取外し可能なガイドを更に含み、前記取外し可能なガイドは、電源ハウジングが前記本体の外面の無菌状態を損なうことなく前記電源ハウジングを前記ソケット内に導くように構成されている、請求項2に記載の装置。
- 前記本体が、前記電力インターフェース機構を介してデータを送信するように更に動作可能である、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記電力インターフェース機構と接続するように構成されたコード付き電源を更に含み、前記コード付き電源が交流電力入力装置と直流電力出力装置とを有する、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記コード付き電源が、交流電力を直流電力に変換するように構成された整流回路を含む、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記整流回路が、トロイダルトランスフォーマと、ダイオードセットと、フィルタリングコンデンサと、デカップリングコンデンサと、を含む、請求項7に記載の装置。
- 前記直流電力出力装置が、約6アンペアで約12ボルトの直流電力出力を供給するように構成されている、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記駆動機構が直流電力で作動するように構成されている、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記コード付き電源が、ケーブルとアダプタとを含み、前記ケーブルが前記アダプタに取外し可能に接続されている、請求項6に記載の装置。
- 前記電力インターフェース機構が、前記アダプタの少なくとも一部分を取外し可能に受容するように構成されたソケットを含む、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 前記アダプタが、交流電力を直流電力に変換するように構成された一体型整流回路を含む、請求項11に記載の装置。
- 前記本体と関連付けられたハンドピースグリップを更に含み、前記ハンドピースグリップの少なくとも一部が、前記電力インターフェース機構と接続された電源の少なくとも一部によって形成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記電力インターフェース機構が、バッテリが前記本体と接続されている時、コード付き電源から電力を受け取るように構成されている、請求項1に記載の装置。
- 前記本体が、
(i)ハンドピースと、
(ii)前記ハンドピースに一体化されたバッテリと、を更に含む、請求項15に記載の装置。 - 外科用キットであって、

(b)バッテリであって、前記電源ソケットが、前記バッテリを差し込み受容するように構成されており、前記エンドエフェクタが、前記バッテリが前記電源ソケットに挿入されている時、前記バッテリからの電力に基づいて作動するように構成されている、バッテリと、
(c)第1のプラグと第2のプラグとを有する電力ケーブルであって、前記電源ソケットが前記電力ケーブルの前記第1のプラグを差し込み受容するように構成されており、前記第2のプラグが、外部電源と接続するように構成されており、前記エンドエフェクタが、前記第1のプラグが前記電源ソケットに挿入されている時、前記電力ケーブルを通じて伝達される電力に基づいて作動するように構成されている、電力ケーブルと、を含む、外科用キット。 - 前記ハンドピースと取外し可能に係合し、それによって、前記ハンドピースの無菌状態を保持しながら前記バッテリ又は前記第1のプラグを前記電源ソケット内に導くように構成されたガイド部材を更に含む、請求項17に記載の外科用キット。

(b)前記ハンドピースと取外し可能に接続するように構成されたシャフトアセンブリであって、前記シャフトアセンブリが、組織上で作動するように構成されたアクティブ素子を有するエンドエフェクタを有し、前記駆動機構が、前記アクティブ素子を駆動するように動作可能である、シャフトアセンブリと、
(c)前記ハンドピースと取外し可能に接続するように構成され、前記シャフトアセンブリの前記エンドエフェクタの前記アクティブ素子を駆動する電力を供給するように構成された電源と、を含む、装置。 - 前記シャフトアセンブリが、前記駆動機構を選択的に稼働させるように動作可能なユーザ入力機構を含む、請求項19に記載の装置。
