そのように処理された排ガスを、ターボチャージャーのタービンに通過させ、そして、
下流における排ガス処理工程において排ガス中に存在する三酸化硫黄及び/又はアンモニウム硫黄化合物をターボチャージャーから除去する、上記の方法であって、
その際、排ガス中のアンモニアとの反応によって形成されたアンモニウム硫黄化合物の凝縮温度よりも高い温度で排ガスを触媒システムに通過させ、かつ、その際、排ガス中のアンモニアの量は、触媒システムへの通過後に、結果として2体積ppm未満か、又は10体積ppm超であるように調節される、上記の方法である。
船舶に搭載した2サイクルエンジンは、1,500ppm(体積)のNOX、750ppm(体積)のSO2及び15ppm(体積)のSO3をエンジンアウトレットから放出する。SCRユニットへ向かうエンジン排ガスの入口温度は、2〜4バールゲージの圧力において330〜500℃である。加圧したSCR上流のターボチャージャーにわたって、NOXレベルは300ppmまで低減される一方で、30ppmのSO3が追加的に形成される。SCRユニット後のアンモニアスリップは、20ppm超に調節され、その結果、重硫酸アンモニウム及び硫酸アンモニウムが形成され、ターボチャージャー下流の廃熱ボイラー中の熱転移面か、又は気相中の固体粒子としてのいずれかで凝縮する。表面上に形成された堆積物は、水での清浄によって除去できる一方で、粒子は下流のSOxスクラバ中で除去できる。あるいはまた、アンモニアスリップ量を低く(<2ppm)維持し、これは、下流の装置のABS及びASによる汚損を最小限にすることを意味する。その後、SO3は、SO3除去に最適化されたSOXスクラバ中で除去され得る。

- リーンバーン内燃機関からの排ガス中の窒素酸化物及び硫黄酸化物を還元する方法であって、排ガスを、調節された量のアンモニアと一緒に、窒素酸化物の窒素への反応において活性な、一種又は多種の触媒を含む触媒システムに通過させることを含み、ここで、排ガスを触媒システムに通過させる前に、アンモニア自体が排ガス中へ導入されるか、又は排ガス中への導入後にアンモニアが形成され、そのように処理された排ガスを、ターボチャージャーのタービンに通過させ、そして、下流における排ガス処理工程において排ガス中に存在する三酸化硫黄及び/又はアンモニウム硫黄化合物をターボチャージャーから除去する、上記の方法であって、
その際、排ガス中のアンモニアとの反応によって形成されたアンモニウム硫黄化合物の凝縮温度よりも高い温度で排ガスを触媒システムに通過させ、かつ、その際、排ガス中のアンモニアの量は、触媒システムへの通過後に、結果として2体積ppm未満か、又は10体積ppm超であるように調節される、上記の方法。 - 前記排ガス中のアンモニアの量が、触媒システムへの通過後に、結果として0.5体積ppm未満の量になるように調節される、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記内燃機関が、2サイクルエンジンである、請求項1又は2に記載の方法。
- 前記下流の排ガス処理工程が、水での洗浄又はスクラビング除去(scrubbing)である、請求項1〜3のいずれか一つに記載の方法。
- 前記排ガス処理工程が、廃熱ボイラー及び/又は湿式スクラバにおいて予め構成される(preformed)、請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記廃熱ボイラーが、周期的に、水で洗浄されるか、又はスートブロー(soot blowing)によって清浄化される、請求項5に記載の方法。
- 船舶に搭載されたリーンバーン内燃機関からの排ガス中の窒素酸化物及び硫黄酸化物を還元するための、請求項1〜6のいずれか一つに記載の方法の使用。
