Abstract
【解決手段】水酸基を有するモノマーから誘導される構成単位および多官能(メタ)アクリレートモノマーから誘導される構成単位とを含む重合体を含有するバインダーを提供することにより達成される。電気二重層キャパシタ、リチウムイオンキャパシタといった電気化学キャパシタ電極のバインダとして利用することができる。

(A)一般式(1)
本発明のバインダーを使用したキャパシタ電極用スラリーの調整方法としては特に限定されず、本発明のバインダー、電極材料、必要に応じて導電助剤、水、増粘剤等を通常の攪拌機、分散機、混練機、遊星型ボールミル、ホモジナイザー、プラネタリーミキサー等を用いて分散させることができる。分散の効率を上げるために材料に影響を与えない範囲で加温してもよい。混合方法やその手順は特に限定されないが、増粘剤の水溶液に電極材料、導電助剤を添加して均一に分散せた後に、バインダーを添加して均一に混合するのが好ましい。
本発明のキャパシタ電極の作製方法は特に限定されず一般的な方法が用いられ、バインダーと炭素材料からなるスラリーを、集電体に塗布、乾燥して得られるものであればよい。例えば、上記のペーストをドクターブレード法やシルクスクリーン法などにより集電体表面上に適切な厚さに均一に塗布し、乾燥、必要に応じてプレス成型して得ることができる。
本発明の電気化学キャパシタ用電極に用いる電極材料は、具体的には、通常、炭素の同素体が用いられる。炭素の同素体の具体例としては、活性炭、ポリアセン(PAS)、カーボンウィスカ及びグラファイト等が挙げられ、これらの粉末または繊維を使用することができる。この中でも、活性炭が好ましい。活性炭は、具体的にはフェノール樹脂、レーヨン、アクリロニトリル樹脂、ピッチ、およびヤシ殻等を原料とする活性炭を挙げることができる。また、炭素の同素体を組み合わせて使用する場合は、平均粒径又は粒径分布の異なる二種類以上の炭素の同素体を組み合わせて使用してもよい。また、正極に用いる電極材料として、上記物質の他に、芳香族系縮合ポリマーの熱処理物であって、水素原子/炭素原子の原子比が0.50〜0.05であるポリアセン系骨格構造を有するポリアセン系有機半導体(PAS)も好適に使用できる。
本発明の電気化学キャパシタ用電極に用いる集電体の材料としては、導電性があり電気化学的に耐久性のある材料であればよい。例えば、金属、炭素、導電性高分子などを用いることができ、好適には金属が用いられる。集電体用金属としては、通常、アルミニウム、白金、ニッケル、タンタル、チタン、ステンレス鋼、銅、その他の合金等が使用される。具体的には導電性、耐電圧性の面から銅、アルミニウムまたはアルミニウム合金を使用するのが好ましい。
導電助剤の具体的としては、黒鉛、ファーネスブラック、アセチレンブラック、ケッチェンブラック等の導電性カーボン、カーボンナノチューブやカーボンナノファイバー等のナノカーボン材料または金属粉末等が挙げられる。これら導電助剤は1種または2種以上用いてもよい。
本発明の電極を用いたキャパシタの製造方法は特に限定されず、正極、負極、セパレータ、電解液、集電体で構成され、公知の方法にて製造される。例えば、コイン型のキャパシタの場合、正極、セパレータ、負極を積層した後に容器に挿入する。これに電解液を注入して封口することでキャパシタが得られる。キャパシタの形状は限定されないが、例としてはコイン型、円筒型、シート型などがあげられる。
セパレーターとしては正極と負極が直接接触してキャパシタ内でショートすることを防止するものであり、公知の材料を用いることができる。具体的には、ポリオレフィン等の多孔質高分子フィルムや不織布、あるいは紙などからなっているが挙げられる。多孔質高分子フィルムとしては、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレンなどのフィルムが電解液によって影響を受けないため好ましい。また、セパレーターとして固体電解質あるいはゲル電解質を用いてもよい。
電解液は水系と電解質を有機溶剤あるいは常温溶融塩に溶解した非水電解液の二種類がある。水系の電解液としては硫酸水溶液が挙げられる。非水電解液に用いられる電解質としては、従来より公知のものが使用できる。具体的には、テトラエチルアンモニウムテトラフルオロボレート、トリエチルモノメチルアンモニウムテトラフルオロボレート、テトラエチルアンモニウムヘキサフルオロフォスフェート等が挙げられるが、これらに限定されるものではない。これらは単独で用いても、2種類以上を混合して用いても良い。
、塩素化パラフィン等のハロゲン化物、三酸化アンチモン、五酸化アンチモン、水酸化アルミニウム、水酸化マグネシウム、リン酸エステル、ポリリン酸塩、及びホウ酸亜鉛等が例示できる。負極表面処理剤としてはビニレンカーボネート、フルオロエチレンカーボネート、ポリエチレングリコールジメチルエーテル等が例示できる。正極表面処理剤として炭素や金属酸化物(MgОやZrO2等)の無機化合物やオルト−ターフェニル等の有機化合物等が例示できる。過充電防止剤としてはビフェニルや1−(p−トリル)アダマンタン等が例示できる。
作製したキャパシタの評価としては内部抵抗および充放電特性を評価した。充放電装置を用いて充放電サイクル特性試験を行い、容量維持率を求めた。評価結果を表1にまとめて示した。
[バインダーの実施合成例]
攪拌機付き反応容器に、メタアクリル酸メチル40.9重量部、ポリプロピレングリコールモノアクリレート(日油製:ブレンマーAP−400)40.9重量部、アクリル酸1.2重量部、メタアクリル酸3.4重量部、トリメチロールプロパントリアクリレート(新中村化学製:A−TMPT)13.6重量部、乳化剤としてドデシルベンゼンスルホン酸ナトリウム1重量部、イオン交換水500重量部および重合開始剤として過硫酸カリウム1重量部を入れ、超音波ホモジナイザーを用いて十分乳化させた後、窒素雰囲気下で60℃に加温し5時間重合した(重合転化率99%以上)。重合終了後、24%水酸化ナトリウム水溶液を用いて、重合液のpHを2.9から7.1に調整し、バインダーA(固形分濃度18.3wt%)を得た。得られた重合体の平均粒子径は0.10μmであった。
[電極の実施作製例]
電極材料として活性炭80重量部に、導電助剤としてカーボンナノチューブ10重量部、バインダーの実施合成例1で得られたバインダーAを固形分として5重量部および増粘剤としてカルボキシメチルセルロースのナトリウム塩の2重量%水溶液を固形分として5重量部を加え、さらにスラリーの固形分濃度が19重量%となるように溶媒なる水を加えて遊星型ミルを用いて十分に混合して電極用スラリーを得た。
得られた電極スラリーを厚さ20μmのアルミ集電体上に85μmギャップのダイコーターを用いて塗布し、110℃真空状態で12時間以上乾繰後、ロールプレス機にてプレスを行い、厚さ38μmの電極を作製した。
電極材料として活性炭80重量部に、導電助剤としてカーボンナノチューブ10重量部、バインダーポリフッ化ビニリデン(PVDF)の12重量%のNMP溶液をPVDFとして10重量部を加え、さらにスラリーの固形分濃度が26重量%となるように溶媒なるNMPを加えて遊星型ミルを用いて十分に混合して電極用スラリーを得た。得られた電極スラリーを厚さ20μmのアルミ集電体上に50μmギャップのダイコーターを用いて塗布し、110℃真空状態で12時間以上乾繰後、ロールプレス機にてプレスを行い、厚さ26μmの電極を作製した。
[キャパシタの実施製造例]
アルゴンガスで置換されたグローブボックス内において、電極の実施作製例で得た電極2枚の間に、セルロース性のセパレーター1枚を挿入し、電解液としてイオン液体1-エチル-3-メチルイミダゾリウムテトラフルオロボラートを十分に含浸させ、試験用2032型コインでキャパシタを製造した。評価結果を表1の実施例に示す。
電極の作製例の比較作製例で得た電極を用いた以外は、電極の実施作製例と同様にしてキャパシタを作製した。
評価結果を表1の比較例に示す。

- 架橋剤として多官能(メタ)アクリレートが3官能または4官能(メタ)アクリレートである請求項1または請求項2記載のキャパシタ電極用バインダー。
- 請求項1から請求項3記載のバインダーと炭素材料からなるスラリーを、集電体に塗布、乾燥して得られるキャパシタ用電極。
- 請求項4記載の電極を用いて得られることを特徴とする電気二重層キャパシタ、リチウムイオンキャパシタ。
