Description
この出願は、2010年5月20日に出願された米国特許出願第12/784,393号についての優先権およびその利益を主張する。なお、その開示の全体がこの参照によって、本願明細書に組み込まれるものとする。
(a) 外側の織物表面を有した全般的に管状の本体、および(b) 本体のキンクおよび圧壊に対する抵抗性のうち少なくとも一つを高めるように構成された、本体の外側織物表面に取り付けられる支持構造、を備える。支持構造は、第1の構成要素および第2の構成要素を有している。第2の構成要素は(i) ポリマー材料を含み、(ii) 第1の構成要素および本体より溶融温度が低く、(iii) 第1の構成要素を本体に接続する。
内側層14は、ePTFE、ポリウレタン、アクリレート、シリコーン、コポリマーおよびそれらの組み合わせのような生体適合性ポリマーといった、生体適合性の材料から製造できる。一つの実施形態において、内側層14は、ePTFE、ポリウレタン、シリコーンおよびアクリレートのうちの少なくとも一つから製造される。
図2〜図4を参照すると、人工器官10は、圧壊および/またはキンクに対する抵抗力を高めるために支持構造22が巻き付けられている。支持構造22は、人工器官10の全長に沿って、若しくは実際に選択された部分、例えば追加の支持を必要とする部分に沿って延びることができる。支持構造22は、人工器官の層とは別個に、例えば鋳造若しくは押し出しによって、製造できる。
本発明の人工器官10について説明してきたが、ここで本発明の人工器官10を製造する方法について説明する。
Claims (28)
- (a)外側の織物表面を有した全般的に管状の本体、および
(b) 前記本体の外側の織物表面に取り付けられるとともに、前記本体のキンクおよび圧壊に対する抵抗力のうちの少なくとも1つを高めるように構成された支持構造、
を備え、
前記支持構造は第1の構成要素および第2の構成要素を有しており、
前記第2の構成要素は、
(i)ポリマー材料から構成され、
(ii) 前記第1の構成要素および前記本体のそれより低い溶融温度を有しており、
(iii) 前記第1の構成要素を前記本体に接続している、
ことを特徴とする移植可能な人工器官。 - 前記移植可能な人工器官の本体は、生体適合性ポリマーから作られた内側層を有していることを特徴とする請求項1に記載した移植可能な人工器官。
- 前記外側の織物表面は、それらの間に隙間若しくは細孔を具備したフィラメント若しくは糸(yarn)からなる外側の織物層の外側表面であり、
前記第2の構成要素は前記隙間若しくは前記細孔の内部に延びており、それによって前記支持構造の第1の構成要素を前記外側の織物層に機械的に接続していることを特徴とする請求項1または2に記載した移植可能な人工器官。 - 前記外側の織物層は、前記フィラメント若しくは糸の編物、織物若しくは組み紐のパターンからなり、
前記支持構造の前記第2の構成要素は、前記第1の構成要素の除去が前記編物若しくは織物のパターンを損傷させないように前記外側の織物層に着脱自在に接続されていることを特徴とする請求項3に記載した移植可能な人工器官。 - 前記支持構造は、前記第1の構成要素の前記外側の織物表面からの除去が、前記第2の構成要素の一部は除去するが、前記第2の構成要素の残りの部分は前記外側の織物表面に接続されたままとするように構成されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至4のいずれか一項に記載した移植可能な人工器官。
- 生体適合性エラストマーの接着剤は、前記内側層の外側表面を前記外側の織物層の内側表面に接合していることを特徴とする請求項3または4に記載した移植可能な人工器官。
- 前記第1の構成要素の溶融温度は約130℃〜170℃であり、
かつ前記第2の構成要素の溶融温度は約60℃〜105℃であることを特徴とする請求項1乃至6のいずれか一項に記載した移植可能な人工器官。 - 前記第1の構成要素がポリプロピレンから製造されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至7のいずれか一項に記載した移植可能な人工器官。
- 前記第2の構成要素がポリエチレンから製造されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至8のいずれか一項に記載した移植可能な人工器官。
- 前記支持構造は、前記外側の織物表面の周りに巻き付けられていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至9のいずれか一項に記載した移植可能な人工器官。
- 前記内側層は、ePTFE、ポリウレタン、シリコーンおよび アクリレートのうちの少なくとも一つから作られていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載した移植可能な人工器官。
- 前記内側層はePTFEから作られていることを特徴とする請求項2に記載した移植可能な人工器官。

- 移植可能人工器官を準備する方法であって、
(a)人工器官の管状本体の外側の織物表面に支持構造を付加する段階であり、前記支持構造は、第1の構成要素と、この第1の構成要素の周りに配置された第2の構成要素とを有しており、前記第2の構成要素はポリマー製であり、かつ前記第1の構成要素および前記本体より低い溶融温度を有している段階、および
(b) 前記第2の構成要素が前記第1の構成要素を前記本体に接続するように前記第2の構成要素を溶融させる段階、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 生体適合性ポリマーの内側層の上に織物の外側層を配置するとともに、生体適合性エラストマーの接着剤を用いて前記外側層と前記内側層を接続することによって前記本体を形成する予備的な段階をさらに備えることを特徴とする請求項15に記載の方法。
- 前記溶融は、約60℃〜105℃の間に前記第2の構成要素の温度を上げることにより達成されることを特徴とする請求項15または16に記載した方法。
- 前記第1の構成要素がポリプロピレンから製造されていることを特徴とする請求項15、16または17のいずれか一項に記載した方法。
- 前記第2の構成要素がポリエチレンから製造されていることを特徴とする請求項15、16、17または18のいずれか一項に記載した方法。
- 前記支持構造は、前記本体の周りに螺旋状に巻き付けられるようにして前記本体に付加されることを特徴とする請求項15、16、17、18または19のいずれか一項に記載した方法。
- 前記内側層は、ePTFE、ポリウレタン、シリコーンおよびアクリレートのうちの少なくとも一つから製造されていることを特徴とする請求項15に記載した方法。
- 対象への移植のために人工器官の適切なサイズを決定する段階、および
前記本体の残りの部分に沿って前記支持構造を接続された間に、適切なサイズに合わせた前記人工器官の少なくとも一つの端部から前記第1の構成要素を除去する段階、を含むことを特徴とする請求項15、16、17、18、19、20または21のいずれか一項に記載した方法。 - 前記第1の構成要素を溶融させて、前記第1の構成要素が前記本体の内側に延びるようにする段階を含むことを特徴とする請求項15、16、17、18、19、20、21または22のいずれか一項に記載した方法。
- 前記第2の構成要素が溶融する間、前記第1の構成要素は溶融しないことを特徴とする請求項15、16、17、18、19、20、21または22のいずれか一項に記載した方法。
- 人工器官を対象に移植する方法であって、
(a)前記対象のために前記人工器官の適切なサイズを決定する段階であり、前記人工器官は、管状の本体と、前記本体の外側表面に取り付けられるとともに前記本体のキンクおよび圧壊に対する抵抗性のうち少なくとも一つを高めるように構成された支持構造とを有しており、前記支持構造は第1の構成要素および第2の構成要素を具備しており、前記第2の構成要素の溶融温度は前記第1の構成要素と前記本体のそれより低く、前記第2の構成要素は前記第1の構成要素を前記本体に接続している段階と、
(b)前記本体の残りの部分に沿って前記支持構造が接続された間に、適切なサイズに合わせた前記人工器官の少なくとも一つの端から前記第1の構成要素を取り除く段階と、
(c) 前記人工器官を前記対象に移植する段階と、
を備えることを特徴とする方法。 - 前記本体は、内側ポリマー層と外側織物層とを具備していることを特徴とする請求項25に記載した方法。
- 前記第1の構成要素がポリプロピレンから製造されていることを特徴とする請求項25または26に記載した方法。
- 前記第2の構成要素がポリエチレンから製造されていることを特徴とする請求項25、26または27のいずれか一項に記載した方法。
