Description
この出願は、2010年5月20日に出願された米国特許出願第12/784,393号についての優先権およびその利益を主張する。なお、その開示の全体がこの参照によって、本願明細書に組み込まれるものとする。
(a) 外側の織物表面を有した全般的に管状の本体、および(b) 本体のキンクおよび圧壊に対する抵抗性のうち少なくとも一つを高めるように構成された、本体の外側織物表面に取り付けられる支持構造、を備える。支持構造は、第1の構成要素および第2の構成要素を有している。第2の構成要素は(i) ポリマー材料を含み、(ii) 第1の構成要素および本体より溶融温度が低く、(iii) 第1の構成要素を本体に接続する。
内側層14は、ePTFE、ポリウレタン、アクリレート、シリコーン、コポリマーおよびそれらの組み合わせのような生体適合性ポリマーといった、生体適合性の材料から製造できる。一つの実施形態において、内側層14は、ePTFE、ポリウレタン、シリコーンおよびアクリレートのうちの少なくとも一つから製造される。
図2〜図4を参照すると、人工器官10は、圧壊および/またはキンクに対する抵抗力を高めるために支持構造22が巻き付けられている。支持構造22は、人工器官10の全長に沿って、若しくは実際に選択された部分、例えば追加の支持を必要とする部分に沿って延びることができる。支持構造22は、人工器官の層とは別個に、例えば鋳造若しくは押し出しによって、製造できる。
本発明の人工器官10について説明してきたが、ここで本発明の人工器官10を製造する方法について説明する。
Claims (11)
- 移植可能な人工器官の製造方法であって、前記製造方法は、
(a)前記人工器官のうち全体的に管状の本体の外側の織物表面に支持構造を適用する工程であって、
前記支持構造が、第1の構成要素と、前記第1の構成要素の周囲に配置される第2の構成要素とを備え、前記第2の構成要素が、ポリマー製であってかつ前記第1の構成要素および前記管状の本体よりも低い融点を有する、工程と、および
(b)前記第1の構成要素および前記管状の本体は溶融させることなく、前記第2の構成要素を溶融させて、前記第2の構成要素により前記第1の構成要素を前記管状の本体と接続させる工程であって、
それにより、前記第2の構成要素と前記外側の織物表面との間の接続が約10グラムないし300グラムの所定の引張力に耐え、かつ、前記管状の本体から前記第1の構成要素を除去する際、前記外側の織物表面の完全性を保つ、工程と、
を包含し、
前記製造方法が、
生体適合性ポリマーの内側層の上に外側織物層を配置しかつ生体適合性エラストマーの接着剤を用いて前記外側織物層と前記内側層を接続することにより、前記管状の本体を形成する前処理工程をさらに含み、
前記工程(b)において、前記第2の構成要素を、60℃ないし105℃を上回る温度で加熱することにより溶融させ、
前記第1の構成要素はポリプロピレン製であり、かつ前記第2の構成要素はポリエチレン製である、
製造方法。 - 前記生体適合性ポリマー製の内側層が少なくともePTFE、ポリウレタン、シリコーンおよびアクリレートのうちの少なくとも1つから作製される、
請求項1に記載の製造方法。 - 前記管状の本体を中心にして螺旋状に前記支持構造が巻き付けられるように適用される、
請求項1に記載の製造方法。 - 患者への移植用の前記人工器官の適切な寸法を決定する工程と、および
前記管状の本体の残りの部分に沿って接続される前記支持構造を残して、前記適切な寸法と一致する前記人工器官の少なくとも1つの端部から、前記第1の構成要素を除去する工程と、
をさらに包含する、請求項1に記載の製造方法。 - 前記外側の織物表面を中心にして周囲に前記支持構造を配置することにより、前記管状の本体のキンクに対する抵抗性および圧壊に対する抵抗性のうち少なくとも1つを高める工程、
をさらに包含する、請求項1に記載の製造方法。 - 前記管状の本体に対して前記第2の構成要素を溶融させる工程が、引張をかけつつ前記管状の本体を中心にして周囲に前記支持構造を配置し、かつ巻き付いた前記支持構造を加熱する工程をさらに包含する、
請求項1に記載の製造方法。 - 前記外側織物層が、ポリエステル、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリウレタン、ポリナフタレン、ポリテトラフルオロエチレンまたは延伸ポリテトラフルオロエチレンのうちの少なくとも1種から作製される、
請求項1に記載の製造方法。 - 前記外側織物層が、ポリエチレンテレフタレートを備える、
請求項1に記載の製造方法。 - 前記生体適合性ポリマー製の内側層が、ePTFEを備える、
請求項8に記載の製造方法。 - 前記生体適合性エラストマーの接着剤が、ポリカーボネートウレタンを含む、
請求項9に記載の製造方法。 - 前記第1の構成要素は、130℃〜170℃の溶融温度を有する、請求項1に記載の製造方法。
