Abstract
Description
−A−C(=O)−B−C(=O)− (I)
−A−C(=O)−D−C(=O)− (II)
[式中、Aはp,p’−Ph−O−Ph−基であり、Phはフェニレン基であり、Bはp−フェニレンであり、そして、Dはm−フェニレンである]によって表される繰り返し単位を含む(好ましくは、実質的にそれらからなるか、又はそれらからなっている)。ポリエーテルケトンケトンの中の式I:式II(T:I)の異性体比を変化させて、非晶質(非結晶質)ポリマーを得る。「非晶質ポリマー」という用語は、本発明の目的においては、示差走査熱量測定(DSC)による結晶融点を示さないポリマーを意味している。
非晶質ポリエーテルケトンケトンであるA−PEKK(OXPEKK SP、Oxford Performance Materials製、T/I比=60/40)の薄膜を、12インチのフィルムダイを取り付けた1インチの製品名Davis Standard押出機を用い、A−PEKKのペレットを溶融加工することによって製造した。ポリマーは、比較的に低いスクリュー速度(20〜80RPM)を用い、315〜325℃で加工した。押出機には、150℃で運転されるDavis Standard社製の標準キャストフィルム引取りスタックを取り付けた。
試験サンプルは、1インチ×5インチの金属若しくはガラスのストリップ(表1参照)及び実施例1に記載のプロセスによって成形した1インチ×1インチ×0.07インチのPEKKのシートからなっていた。試験サンプルの表面は、成形より前にアセトンを用いてきれいにして、グリース又は油を除去した。それらのサンプルを、製品名Carverプレス及び試験サンプルを保持するための1インチ×5インチの小さな窪みを有する2枚の12インチ×12インチのアルミニウムブロックを使用して、圧縮成形した。そのプレスの型は、220〜230℃(A−PEKKシートの場合)又は260〜290℃(結晶質PEKKの場合)に予備加熱しておいた。予備加熱した後で、その型をプレスから抜き出し、その試験シートと1インチ×1インチのPEKKシートとを、接合表面を汚染しないように注意深く組み立てて3層構造とした。その構成は、適切な試験材料の2枚のシートの間の1枚のPEKKシートからなっていた。次いでその型を再び組み立てて、プレスに戻し、約1分間で試験温度にまで再加熱した。次いでその組立品を、2000psiで5分間加圧してから、取り出し、50%の相対湿度で少なくとも24時間室温に放置してから、接合強度の試験を行った。
ポリエーテルエーテルケトンは、PEKKと類似の構造及び使用温度を有するポリマーではあるが、しかしながらイソフタレートを全く含まない純粋なパラ構造をもって製造されている(すなわち、T/I=100)。図の顕微鏡写真では、PEEKは、低温破壊をさせたときに繊維がマトリックスから引き抜かれているので、ガラス繊維に対してPEEKが、はるかに低い接着性を有しているが、その一方で、PEKKを用いて作成したサンプルの顕微鏡写真では、繊維が引き抜かれてはおらず、PEKKがまだ繊維に付着していることが示されている。図からもわかるように、PEKK複合材料の場合の不良は、その不良がPEKKマトリックスの中にあるので、凝集性である。この場合の破断面は、繊維とPEKKマトリックスとの間で効果的な荷重伝達が起きた結果として生じた顕著な延性を示している。それとは対照的に、PEEK系における不良は、繊維が明らかにマトリックスから引き抜かれているので、接着性である。その破断面は、明らかな脆性破断プロセスを示していて、この場合、繊維とマトリックスとの相互作用が効果的ではないということを示唆している。この系においては、荷重伝達が有効であるとの期待はできない。凝集性不良によって試験片を破壊するエネルギーは、マトリックスそのものの強度に依存し、一般的には、接着性不良よりも高いとみなされている。
Claims (10)
- 第一の基材及び第二の基材を含む組立品であって、非晶質ポリエーテルケトンケトンを含む繋ぎ層が、前記第一の基材と前記第二の基材との間で、かつそれらと接触状態で位置している、組立品。
- 前記第一の基材が、前記繋ぎ層と接触状態にある、ガラス、プラスチック、セラミック、及び/又は金属を含む表面を有している、請求項1に記載の組立品。
- 前記第二の基材が、結晶質及び/又は高温熱可塑性プラスチックを含む前記繋ぎ層と接触状態にある表面を有している、請求項1又は2に記載の組立品。
- 前記第一の基材が金属質であり、そして前記第二の基材が、結晶質及び/又は高温熱可塑性プラスチックを含む、請求項1〜3いずれか1項に記載の組立品。
- 前記繋ぎ層の厚みが約1〜約100ミクロンである、請求項1〜4いずれか1項に記載の組立品。
- 前記非晶質ポリエーテルケトンケトンが、式I及びII
−A−C(=O)−B−C(=O)− (I)
−A−C(=O)−D−C(=O)− (II)
[式中、Aはp,p’−Ph−O−Ph−基であり、Phはフェニレン基であり、Bはp−フェニレンであり、そして、Dはm−フェニレンである]
で表される繰り返し単位を含む、請求項1〜5いずれか1項に記載の組立品。 - 前記非晶質ポリエーテルケトンケトンが、約(65:35)から約(55:45)までのT:I比を有する、請求項1〜6いずれか1項に記載の組立品。
- 前記第一の基材及び前記第二の基材がシートの形態である、請求項1〜7いずれか1項に記載の組立品。
- 前記第二の基材が、PEK、PEEK、PEEEK、PEEKK、PEKEKK、及びPEKKKからなる群から選択される結晶質ポリ(アリールエーテルケトン)を含む前記繋ぎ層と接触状態にある表面を有する、請求項1〜8いずれか1項に記載の組立品。
- 組立品を作成するための方法であって、非晶質ポリエーテルケトンケトンを含む繋ぎ層を使用して第一の基材を第二の基材と接合することを含む、方法。
