Abstract
【解決手段】 偏光変換システムは、非偏光画像ソースからの光を、第1の偏光状態(SOP)と、これに直交する第2のSOPとに分割して、この偏光を第1および第2の光路に方向付ける。第1および第2の光路のうち一方の光路のみの光のSOPを直交状態に変換して、両方の光路のSOPが同一になるようにする。偏光変調器は、第1および第2の光路の光を時間的に変調して、第1および第2の偏光出力状態とする。第1および第2の投影レンズは、第1および第2の光路の光を投影スクリーンに向けて方向付けて、互いに実質的に重複する偏光符号化画像を形成する。偏光変調器は、投影レンズの前方または後方に配置されるとしてよい。偏光符号化画像は、適切な偏光フィルタを有するアイウェアを用いて見るとしてよい。

Claims (20)
- 偏光符号化画像を投影スクリーンに送る偏光変換システムであって、
第1の投影レンズと、
第2の投影レンズと、
第1の偏光状態の光を第1の光路上の前記第1の投影レンズに対して透過させ、第2の偏光状態の光を第2の光路に向けて反射する偏光ビームスプリッタと、
前記第2の光路上に配置されており、前記第2の投影レンズに向けて光を反射する反射素子と、
前記第1の光路および前記第2の光路に配置されている偏光変調器と
を備え、
前記第1の投影レンズおよび前記第2の投影レンズは、前記偏光符号化画像を前記投影スクリーンに向けて方向付ける
偏光変換システム。 - 前記第1の光路および前記第2の光路のうち一方において、前記偏光変調器の前方に配置されている半波長板
をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記偏光変調器は、
前記第1の光路において、前記第1の投影レンズの後方に配置される第1の偏光スイッチと、
前記第2の光路において、前記第2の投影レンズの後方に配置される第2の偏光スイッチと
を有する
請求項2に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記第1の偏光スイッチおよび前記第2の偏光スイッチは、互いに同期して、偏光を時間的に変調する
請求項3に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記偏光変調器は、
前記第1の光路において、前記偏光ビームスプリッタと前記第1の投影レンズとの間に配置される第1の偏光スイッチと、
前記第2の光路において、前記偏光ビームスプリッタと前記第2の投影レンズとの間に配置される第2の偏光スイッチと
を有する
請求項2に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記偏光変調器は、単一の偏光スイッチを有する
請求項1に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記偏光変調器は、液晶ベースの変調器を有する
請求項2に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記偏光変調器は、複数の部分に区分された偏光用の回転輪を有する
請求項1に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記複数の部分に区分された偏光用の回転輪は、

前記回転輪は、偏光入力を、時間的に交互に変化して、互いに直交する、一連の偏光出力状態へと変換する
請求項8に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 画像ソースからの非偏光を前記偏光ビームスプリッタに向けて方向付ける初期リレーレンズ
をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記第1の光路に配置されており、光を前記第1の投影レンズに向けて方向付ける第1のリレーレンズと、
前記第2の光路に配置されており、光を前記第2の投影レンズに向けて方向付ける第2のリレーレンズと
をさらに備える、請求項1に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記偏光変調器の前方に配置されている事前偏光子
をさらに備える、請求項2に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 前記反射素子は、ガラスプリズム、ミラー、および、別の偏光ビームスプリッタのうち1つを有する
請求項1に記載の偏光変換システム。 - 偏光ビームスプリッタが非偏光画像ソース光を受光する段階と、
前記偏光ビームスプリッタが第1の光路に配置されている投影レンズに向けて、第1の偏光状態の画像ソース光を透過させる段階と、
前記偏光ビームスプリッタが第2の光路に向けて第2の偏光状態の画像ソース光を反射する段階と、
第2の投影レンズに向けて前記第2の光路の光を反射する段階と、
前記第1の光路および前記第2の光路のうち一方の光の偏光状態を、直交する偏光状態に回転させる段階と、
前記第1の光路および前記第2の光路の光の偏光状態を、第1の偏光出力状態と第2の偏光出力状態との間で、時間的に変調する段階と
を備える偏光符号化画像投影方法。 - 前記第1の偏光出力状態は、円偏光を含み、
前記第2の偏光出力状態は、反対回りの円偏光を含む
請求項14に記載の偏光符号化画像投影方法。 - 前記第1の偏光出力状態は、直線偏光を含み、
前記第2の偏光出力状態は、直交する直線偏光を含む
請求項14に記載の偏光符号化画像投影方法。 - 前記第1の光路の光は、時間的に変調される前に、前記第1の投影レンズを通過する
請求項14に記載の偏光符号化画像投影方法。 - 前記第1の光路の光は、時間的に変調された後に、前記第1の投影レンズを通過する
