Abstract
Description
(a)標準比重(SSG)(ASTM D−1457−90に従い、標準成型試験試料の水置換によって測定する。)
(b)原分散粒径(Raw Dispersion Particle Size)(RDPS)(分光測定又は他の適当な手法によって決定する。例えば、米国特許第4016345号及び第4363900号を参照。本願における測定は、Brookhaven 90 plus装置を用いてレーザー光散乱によって得た。)
(c)樹脂表面積(乾燥凝固した樹脂の表面積はRDPSと反比例する。本願における測定は、BET法及び吸収ガスとして窒素を用い、Coulter model SA3100表面積分析装置を用いて得た。)
(a)共重合したコモノマー単位は、コポリマー組成全体に対して0.05モル%〜0.25モル%の量で存在し、
(b)コポリマーの原分散一次粒径(RDPS)は0.200μm未満であって、標準比重(SSG)は2.140未満であり、
(c)直径0.1インチの延伸ビードの形状に成形されたコポリマーの破断強度は13.0ポンドを超え、
(d)コポリマーの強度発生比(SGR)は2.0×10-2cm2を超え、そして
(e)延伸された多孔質の成形品の形状において、その成形品のマトリクス引張強度は少なくとも1方向について約40kpsiを超える。

Claims (35)
- 分散/微粉末型のテトラフルオロエチレンコポリマーの共重合方法であって、前記コポリマーが、テトラフルオロエチレンモノマー単位99.70モル%〜99.99モル%及び式:(CnF(2n+1))CH=CH2(式中、6≦n<10)の共重合したコモノマー単位0.01モル%〜0.30モル%を本質的に含有し、
当該方法が、
(a)前記モノマー及びコモノマーを加圧した反応器中で共重合すること、
(b)過マンガン酸カリウム(KMnO4)を添加することによって前記共重合を開始すること、
(c)イオン強度強化剤の不存在下で全体の反応を行うこと、及び
(d)反応完了の80%以下の反応時点で(KMnO4)開始剤の添加を停止する
ことを含む、方法。 - 前記コモノマーが(パーフルオロヘキシル)エチレン(PFHE)である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記コモノマーが(パーフルオロオクチル)エチレン(PFOE)である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記コモノマーを前記共重合反応において予備充填物として添加することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 反応開始から反応全体の一部のみを通じて、前記コモノマーを徐々に増加しながら断続的に添加することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 反応完了の60%以下の反応時点でKMnO4開始剤の添加を停止することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 反応完了の50%以下の反応時点でKMnO4開始剤の添加を停止することを含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 請求項1に記載の、分散/微粒子型のテトラフルオロエチレンコポリマーの共重合方法であって、
前記重合したコモノマー単位が、コポリマー組成全体に対して0.01モル%〜0.30モル%の量で存在し、
前記コポリマーの原分散一次粒径(RDPS)が0.210μm未満であり、前記コポリマーの標準比重(SSG)が2.143未満である、方法。 - 前記コポリマーのRDPSが0.200μm未満であり、前記コポリマーのSSGが2.140未満である、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記コモノマーを前記共重合反応において予備充填物として添加することを含む、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 反応開始から反応全体の一部のみを通じて、前記コモノマーを徐々に増加しながら断続的に添加することを含む、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 反応完了の60%以下の反応時点でKMnO4開始剤の添加を停止することを含む、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 反応完了の50%以下の反応時点でKMnO4開始剤の添加を停止することを含む、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 重合したテトラフルオロエチレンモノマー単位及び式:(CnF(2n+1))CH=CH2(式中、6≦n<10)の共重合したコモノマー単位を含有する、微粉末型テトラフルオロエチレンコポリマーであって、
(a)前記共重合したコモノマー単位が、コポリマー組成全体に対して0.01モル%〜0.30モル%の量で存在し、
(b)前記コポリマーの原分散一次粒径(RDPS)が0.210μm未満であり、前記コポリマーの標準比重(SSG)が2.143未満である、微粉末型テトラフルオロエチレンコポリマー。 - 前記コモノマーが(パーフルオロヘキシル)エチレン(PFHE)である、請求項14に記載のコポリマー。
- 前記コモノマーが(パーフルオロオクチル)エチレン(PFOE)である、請求項14に記載のコポリマー。
- 前記コモノマー単位が0.05モル%〜0.25モル%の量で存在する、請求項14に記載のコポリマー。
- 前記RDPSが0.200μm未満であって、前記コポリマーのSSGが2.140未満である、請求項14に記載のコポリマー。
- 重合した状態の、水性分散液中に分散された、請求項14に記載のコポリマー。
- 微粉末形状の請求項14に記載のコポリマー。
- 破断強度が少なくとも10.0ポンド(4.53kg)である直径0.1インチ(0.25cm)の延伸ビード形状に成形されている、請求項20に記載のコポリマー。

- SGRが少なくとも3.0である、請求項28に記載のコポリマー。
- 前記コポリマーが、延伸された多孔質の成形品の形状において、その結晶融点を超えて加熱されたことがなく、前記成形品のマトリクス引張強度(MTS)が少なくとも1方向について約35.0kpsi(241MPa)を超える、請求項14に記載のコポリマー。
- 前記コポリマーが、延伸された多孔質の成形品の形状において、その結晶融点を超えて加熱されたことがなく、前記成形品のマトリクス引張強度が少なくとも1方向について約40.0kpsi(276MPa)を超える、請求項14に記載のコポリマー。

- 重合したテトラフルオロエチレンモノマー単位及び式:(CnF(2n+1))CH=CH2(式中、n=6)の共重合したコモノマー単位を含有する、微粉末型テトラフルオロエチレンコポリマーであって、
(a)前記共重合したコモノマー単位が、コポリマー組成全体に対して0.05モル%〜0.25モル%の量で存在し、
(b)前記コポリマーの原分散一次粒径(RDPS)が0.200μm未満であって、前記コポリマーの標準比重(SSG)が2.140未満であり、
(c)前記コポリマーが直径0.1インチ(0.25cm)の延伸ビードの形状に成形され、前記延伸ビードの破断強度が少なくとも12.0ポンド(5.44kg)であり、
(d)前記コポリマーの強度発生比(SGR)が2.0×10-2cm2を超え、そして
(e)延伸された多孔質の成形品の形状において、前記成形品のマトリクス引張強度が少なくとも1方向について約40.0kpsi(276MPa)を超える、微粉末型テトラフルオロエチレンコポリマー。 - 重合したテトラフルオロエチレンモノマー単位及び式:(CnF(2n+1))CH=CH2(式中、n=8)の共重合したコモノマー単位を含有する、微粉末型テトラフルオロエチレンコポリマーであって、
(a)前記共重合したコモノマー単位が、コポリマー組成全体に対して0.05モル%〜0.25モル%の量で存在し、
(b)前記コポリマーの原分散一次粒径(RDPS)が0.200μm未満であって、前記コポリマーの標準比重(SSG)が2.140未満であり、
(c)前記コポリマーが直径0.1インチ(0.25cm)の延伸ビードの形状に成形され、前記延伸ビードの破断強度が少なくとも12.0ポンド(5.44kg)であり、
(d)前記コポリマーの強度発生比(SGR)が2.0×10-2cm2を超え、そして

(d)前記コポリマーの強度発生比(SGR)が2.0×10-2cm2を超え、そして
(e)延伸された多孔質の成形品の形状において、前記成形品のマトリクス引張強度が少なくとも1方向について約40.0kpsi(276MPa)を超える、微粉末型テトラフルオロエチレンコポリマー。
