Abstract
【解決手段】内面に画素形成用の電極を有する一対の透光性ガラス基板1a,1b間に液晶層が挟持され、且つ一方向に正の曲面と負の曲面とを組み合わせて形成された液晶表示パネル1Aと、この液晶表示パネル1Aの背面に液晶表示パネル1Aの曲面形状に沿って設置され、且つ液晶表示パネル1Aの背面に照明光を照射する少なくとも1本の冷陰極蛍光管7を有するバックライト6Aと、液晶表示パネル1Aとバックライト6Aとが対向する周縁部間に挟持され、且つ曲面状態を保持固定する樹脂部材5Aとから構成することにより、液晶表示パネル1Aの曲げに伴う透光性ガラス基板1a,1bの歪みが緩和される。

Claims (8)
- 一対の透光性基板間に液晶が封止され、且つ一方向に正負の曲率を組み合わせて形成された曲面形状を有する液晶表示パネルを備えたことを特徴とする液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶表示パネルの背面に前記液晶表示パネルの前記曲面形状に沿って設置され、且つ前記液晶表示パネルの背面に照明光を照射する少なくとも1個の発光素子を有するバックライトと、
前記液晶表示パネルと前記バックライトとが対向する周縁部間に挟持され、且つ前記曲面形状を保持固定する樹脂部材と、
を備えたことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の液晶表示装置。 - 前記透光性基板は、ガラス基板であることを特徴とする請求項1または請求項2に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記ガラス基板の板厚は、0.2mm以下であることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶表示パネルは、一方端近傍と中央部近傍とで前記曲率を逆にしたことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項4の何れかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記液晶表示パネルは、両端近傍部と中央部とで前記曲率を反対にしたことを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項4の何れかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記発光素子が蛍光管であり、前記蛍光管は、前記液晶表示パネルの前記曲率に沿って対向配置されていることを特徴とする請求項1乃至請求項6の何れかに記載の液晶表示装置。
- 前記蛍光管は、冷陰極蛍光管または外部電極蛍光管であることを特徴とする請求項7に記載の液晶表示装置。
