Abstract
Description
好ましい破裂圧力および可撓性の特性を示すバルーンが提供される。バルーンの空洞および/またはアブショーションされた領域(以下「アブレーション領域」と称する)へのナノ材料の付加により、バルーンの外形および/または可撓性を維持しながらも、バルーンの破裂圧力を改善することができる。実施形態において、空洞および/またはアブレーション領域にナノ材料を含むバルーンは、相対的に高い破裂圧力、良好な可撓性、および相対的に小さな外形を有することができる。ナノ材料は相対的に生体適合性を有し得る。一部の実施形態においては、ナノ材料は、治療薬、薬剤、および/または、薬学的活性化合物を体内の目的部位に送達することができる。空洞またはアブレーション領域は、比較的迅速にかつ容易にバルーン壁に形成することができる。空洞またはアブレーション領域は、(例えば空洞またはアブレーション領域がレーザアブレーションによって形成される実施形態においては)相対的に高い精度で形成され得る。
例として、単層バルーンが示されているが、一部の実施形態においては、アブレーション領域を備えるバルーンは、多層バルーンであってもよい。例えば、バルーンは、2層、3層、4層、5層、または6層を有し得る。多層バルーンは、例えば、共押出成形によって形成することができる。バルーンが多層バルーン(例えば5層を有するバルーン)である特定の実施形態においては、アブレーション領域は、バルーンの最上層または上から2つの層のみに延び得る。

Claims (31)
- 間に壁厚を画定する内面および外面を備える壁部と、前記外面において壁厚を減少させた空洞とを有する膨張可能なバルーンと、
前記空洞内に配置されたナノ材料と
を備える医療器具。 - 前記空洞はパターンを形成する、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記空洞は拡張された溝を備える、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記空洞は交差した溝部分を備える、請求項3に記載の医療器具。
- 前記空洞はバルーン軸線に対して周方向においてほぼ対称である、請求項3に記載の医療器具。
- 前記空洞はバルーン軸線に対して周方向においてほぼ非対称である、請求項3に記載の医療器具。
- 前記溝の深さは前記壁部の厚さの約5〜75%である、請求項3に記載の医療器具。
- 前記溝の幅対深さの比率は約10:1以下である、請求項3に記載の医療器具。
- 前記ナノ材料は複数のナノチューブを含む、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記ナノ材料はナノ材料を含有する繊維を含む、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記ナノ材料は、マトリックスポリマー内に配置される、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記空洞は壁部の外面と同じ高さとなるように充填される、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記空洞は、壁部の外面よりも低く、または高く充填される、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記バルーンは少なくとも約1MPa(約10atm)の破裂圧力を有する、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記バルーンは二軸配向材料から形成される、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- バルーンは、ペバックス、PET、PEN、PBT、PEEK、ハイトレル、ポリウレタン、またはナイロンから選択されるポリマーから形成される、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- ステントをさらに備える、請求項1に記載の医療器具。
- 前記ステントは薬剤を含む、請求項17に記載の医療器具。

- 第1の厚さを有する第1部分と、第1厚さより厚い第2の厚さを有する第2部分とを備えた壁部を有するほぼ管状をなす部材と、
前記第1部分の上に配置されたナノ材料と
を備える医療用バルーン。 - 医療用バルーンの壁部の内面と外面との間に画定される壁厚を減少させるように、該壁部に空洞を設ける工程と、
前記空洞にナノ材料を付加する工程と
を含む方法。 - 前記空洞はパターンを形成する、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 前記医療用バルーンが膨張するときに、前記空洞が該医療用バルーンの壁部に形成される、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 前記医療用バルーンの壁部に空洞を設ける工程は、医療用バルーンの壁をアブレーションする工程を含む、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 前記空洞にナノ材料を付加する工程は、ナノ材料を含む溶液に前記空洞を接触させる工程を含む、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 前記医療用バルーンの壁部に空洞を設ける工程は、医療用バルーンパリソンの壁部に空洞を形成する工程と、その医療用バルーンパリソンを拡張する工程とを含む、請求項23に記載の方法。
- 前記医療用バルーンパリソンの壁部に空洞を形成する工程は、医療用バルーンパリソンの壁部をアブレーションする工程を含む、請求項28に記載の方法。
- 前記空洞にナノ材料を付加する工程の後に、そのナノ材料をポリマーで被覆する工程をさらに含む、請求項23に記載の方法、
- 前記ポリマーはエラストマーを含む、請求項30に記載の方法。
