Description
Claims (20)
- 管の摩擦攪拌接合に使用するためのマンドレルであって、
前記管の内径よりも小さい外径を有する中空の円筒形状部として形成され、前記円筒形状部が頂端部および底端部に垂直な隙間をその中に有するマンドレルシェルと、
前記隙間が所望の幅に広がるように前記マンドレルシェルを拡張する手段と
を備えるマンドレル。 - 前記マンドレルシェルを拡張する前記手段が、
少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置と、
前記少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置に結合され、前記少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置が作動されるとき前記隙間を広げるように配設された拡張くさびと
をさらに備える、請求項1に記載のマンドレル。 - 前記少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置が液圧シリンダである、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置がさらに、前記少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置が載ることができるプラットフォームを備える、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記プラットフォームがさらに、そこを貫通して配設された複数の穴を有する請求項4に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記マンドレルがさらに、前記マンドレルの前記内径にある複数のリリーフカット部を有し、前記リリーフカット部が、前記マンドレルの前記頂端部および底端部に垂直である、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記マンドレルがさらに2つのリップ部を有し、該リップ部はそれぞれ、前記隙間に隣接して該隙間のいずれかの側に配設されている、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記リップ部のそれぞれが、互いにおよび前記隙間から離れるように先細になっていく、請求項7に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記マンドレルシェル内の前記隙間が、前記マンドレルシェルが静止しているときは閉じられている、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記マンドレルシェルが、前記マンドレルシェルを前記隙間で閉じさせる残留応力を有する、請求項9に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記残留応力が、前記隙間と平行で、前記マンドレルシェル内で互いに等角に離間された複数の融接ビードを配設することによって生み出される、請求項10に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記拡張くさびのサイズは、より大きい拡張くさびが使用されるときは前記マンドレルシェルをより大きく拡張させ、より小さい拡張くさびが使用されるときは前記マンドレルシェルをより小さい度合いで拡張させ、それによって同じマンドレルシェルを用いて異なる直径の管に対応できるように、改変可能である、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記マンドレルシェルの外径が、摩擦攪拌接合中に管が前記マンドレルシェルに拡散溶接されるのを防ぐための材料で被覆される、請求項2に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記マンドレルがさらに、前記隙間の端部を前記拡張可能なくさびに結合させる手段を有し、前記拡張可能なくさびを前記隙間から引っ込めることによって、前記隙間の両端部が互いに近づく、請求項7に記載のマンドレル。
- 前記マンドレルがさらに、
前記リップ部の第1の端部内に配設された第1および第2のポストと、
前記拡張可能なくさびの第1の端部内に配設された第3および第4のポストと、
前記第3および第4のポストに結合され、前記第1および第2のポストの周りに配設されたケーブルと
を有し、前記拡張可能なくさびを前記隙間から引っ込めることによって前記ケーブルが前記隙間を閉じる、請求項7に記載のマンドレル。 - 摩擦攪拌接合される管の内部にマンドレルを提供するための方法であって、
(1)前記管の内径よりも小さい外径を有する中空の円筒形状部として形成されるマンドレルシェルであって前記円筒形状部が頂端部および底端部に垂直な隙間をその中に有するマンドレルシェルを提供するとともに、前記隙間が所望の幅に広げられるように前記マンドレルシェルを拡張する手段を提供するステップと、
(2)前記マンドレルシェルの外径が前記管の内径に接触するように前記マンドレルシェルを拡張するステップと
を含む方法。 - 前記方法がさらに、
(1)少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置を提供するとともに、前記少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置に結合された拡張くさびを提供するステップと、
(2)前記少なくとも1つの液圧作動装置が作動されるとき前記隙間を広げるステップとを含む、請求項16に記載の方法。 - 前記方法がさらに、前記マンドレルシェルに力がかけられていないとき、前記マンドレルシェルを前記隙間で閉じさせる残留応力をマンドレルシェル内に生じさせるステップを含む、請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記方法がさらに、前記拡張可能なくさびを前記隙間から引っ込め、それによって前記隙間の両端を互いに近づけるステップを含む、請求項18に記載の方法。
- 前記方法がさらに、前記マンドレルシェルを拡張および収縮させることができるように前記マンドレルシェル内に複数のカット部を作り出すステップを含む、請求項16に記載の方法。
