本願は、2004年5月19日に出願され且つ本願に組み込まれる米国仮特許出願第60/572557号に基づく優先権を主張する。
本発明は、白熱ランプ用壁面減光の応用に広く用いられている位相制御型減光装置と両立する、LED照明に用いられるAC/DCコンバータの製造に関する。図1は減光装置の典型的な回路を示している。
−主端子を通る双方向導通(これによりACを通過させる)
−ゲート端子Gと第2の主端子MT2との間にトリガが存在するとき、トライアックはオンとなり、主端子間が導通する
−トリガされると、トライアックはAC電力線のゼロ交叉までオンの状態を維持し、ゼロ交叉の時点でトライアックはオフとなり、次のトリガ・パルス又はAC電力線のゼロ交叉を待つ。この特性により、位相角制御が達成できる。
1.LED照明は白熱照明よりもエネルギー効率がよいので、ずっと小さな電流しか使わない。典型的な白熱電球は導通期間に200mAを越える電流を簡単に流してしまう。この値は典型的な減光装置の保持電流を大きく超える。したがって、通常は白熱電球の減光には問題がない。一般に、LED照明は、回路設計に依存して、典型的には10〜150mAの範囲にわたる、少ない電流を流す。
ここに記述される発明は、位相制御型減光装置及びLED照明と共に使用するための動的負荷回路又は緩衝回路である。動的負荷は充分な電流を減光装置回路に提供すると共に、減光装置の電流要求に依存して変わる電流を提供する。
図5に示すように、本発明の動的負荷回路30はAC電源32に接続され、AC電源32は減光装置33に電気接続され、減光装置33はブリッジ整流器BR1に電気接続される。LED36を有するLED照明コンバータ35はブリッジ整流器BR1に並列に電気接続される。動的ダミー負荷40はLED照明コンバータ35に並列に配置される。フィードバック・チャネル45がLED照明コンバータ35とダミー負荷40との間に設けられ、ダミー負荷40は必要時には適切な負荷を提供し、不要時には小さな負荷となって電力を保存する。照明コンバータ35は、ブリッジ整流器BR1から受け取った電力を調整する電子回路を備えると共に、動的ダミー負荷40に制御信号又はフィードバック信号を提供する電子回路を備える。動的ダミー負荷40によって電源又はブリッジ整流器BR1に与えられる負荷は制御信号に基づいて変動し、こうして、動的ダミー負荷40によって流される又は引き出される電流の量を変える。
Claims (15)
- 電源とLED照明コンバータとの間に直列に接続された減光装置を備える電気回路であって、
前記LED照明コンバータに並列に配置され、前記LED照明コンバータから制御信号を受け取り、該制御信号に応答して負荷を調整する動的ダミー負荷を備える電気回路。 - 前記電源及び前記LED照明コンバータと直列のサージ制限回路を更に備える、請求項1に記載の電子回路。
- 前記サージ制限回路が定電流源である、請求項2に記載の電子回路。
- 前記制御信号が電流信号である、請求項1に記載の電子回路。
- 前記LED照明コンバータがAC−DCコンバータを備える、請求項1に記載の電子回路。
- 減光装置がバイアス電流を示し、前記動的ダミー負荷が前記減光装置の作動前に前記バイアス電流に対して負荷を提供する、請求項1に記載の電子回路。
- 前記動的ダミー負荷が減光装置の作動時に電流増を示す、請求項6に記載の電子回路。
- LEDと共に位相制御型減光装置を使用して該LEDの減光を行う方法であって、
電源に接続された位相制御型減光装置を設ける段階と、
前記減光装置に直列に電気接続されたLEDを設ける段階と、
前記LEDと並列に動的ダミー負荷を設ける段階と、
前記減光装置の作動時に前記減光装置の保持電流を越えて前記減光装置から電流を引くよう前記動的ダミー負荷を変え、その後、前記LEDによって引かれる電流が前記保持電流を越えるとき、引く電流を低減するよう前記動的ダミー負荷を変える段階と、
を備える減光方法。 - 前記動的ダミー負荷へ制御信号を提供する段階を更に備える、請求項8に記載の減光方法。
- 減光可能なLED照明システムであって、
位相制御型減光装置に電気接続された電源であって、前記位相制御型減光装置がそのAC電力出力をLED照明に電力供給するためのDC電力出力へ変換するコンバータ回路に電気接続された電源と、
前記コンバータ回路に並列に電気接続された動的ダミー負荷であって、前記コンバータ回路の動作に応答してその引く電流を変える動的ダミー負荷と、
を具備するLED照明システム。 - 前記LEDに提供される電流に応答して前記コンバータ回路によって生成された制御信号を運ぶために前記コンバータ回路から前記動的ダミー負荷へ至る制御チャネルを更に備える、請求項10に記載のLED照明システム。
- 前記減光装置と前記コンバータ回路との間に電気接続されたブリッジ整流器を更に備える、請求項10に記載のLED照明システム。
- 前記コンバータ回路が、前記減光装置から提供される電圧を低減する変圧器を備える、請求項10に記載のLED照明システム。
- 前記変圧器が前記制御信号を生成する、請求項13に記載のLED照明システム。
- 前記動的ダミー負荷に電気接続されたサージ制限回路を更に備える、請求項10に記載のLED照明システム。
