Description
放射体と導波路216の入口面の間の距離は、視差効果を防止し、カラーディスプレイでは、異なるサブピクセル間での干渉を防止するために、小さくしなければならない。
Claims (11)
- 発光画素と、
前記画素に隣接し、第1の屈折率を有する第1の材料を含む複数の導波路を具える基板、及び第1の屈折率よりも低い屈折率を有する第2の材料を含む間隙領域とを具え、
前記間隙領域は導波路の間に配置され、画素の方向において先狭の形状とされ、
導波路と間隙領域の間の界面が反射層を具えることを特徴とするディスプレイ装置。 - 前記間隙領域はテーパー状の形状を有する、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 複数の導波路の入口面が前記要素から放射された光を受容するよう配置されており、前記複数の導波路の出口面の表面積が入口面の表面積よりも実質的に小さい、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 前記反射層は金属層である、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 間隙領域は実質的に漏斗状である、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 間隙領域の頂角は90°より小さい、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 頂角は30〜60°の範囲にある、請求項6に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 導波路基板の厚さが100ナノメートルと10マイクロメートルの間にある、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 導波路の出口面の断面長さは、可視光領域での光の波長の大きさ程度である、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- 複数の導波路及び/又は間隙領域がランダム構造に配置される、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
- ディスプレイ装置は、ポリマー発光ディスプレイ、有機発光ディスプレイ、透過型液晶ディスプレイ、CRT、プラズマディスプレイ又は電界放出ディスプレイの一つを具える、請求項1に記載のディスプレイ装置。
