Abstract
【解決手段】プラズマディスプレイパネルに形成されている表示セル各々内に、電子線の照射によって励起されて波長200〜300nm内にピークを有するカソードルミネッセンス発光を行う酸化マグネシウム結晶体を含む酸化マグネシウム層を設け、時間経過に伴い緩やかに電圧値が変化してピーク電圧値に到るパルス波形を有するリセットパルスを印加することにより全表示セル内にリセット放電を生起させる。

Claims (13)
- 複数の行電極対と前記行電極対の各々に交叉した方向に伸張する複数の列電極との各交叉部に放電空間を有する表示セルが形成されているプラズマディスプレイパネルを備えたプラズマディスプレイ装置であって、
前記表示セル各々内において形成され且つ電子線の照射によって励起されて波長域200〜300nm内にピークを有するカソードルミネッセンス発光を行う酸化マグネシウム結晶体を含む酸化マグネシウム層と、
前記行電極対にリセットパルスを印加することにより全ての前記表示セルの前記放電空間内においてリセット放電を生起させて全ての前記表示セルを初期化するリセット手段と、
前記行電極対各々の一方の行電極に順次走査パルスを印加すると共に入力映像信号に対応したデータパルスを前記列電極各々に印加することにより前記表示セル各々の前記放電空間内において選択的に選択放電を生起させて前記表示セル各々を前記点灯セル状態又は前記消灯セル状態に設定するアドレス手段と、
前記行電極対にサスティンパルスを印加することにより前記点灯セル状態に設定された前記表示セルの前記放電空間内においてサスティン放電を生起させるサスティン手段と、を有し、
前記リセットパルスは時間経過に伴い緩やかに電圧値が変化する区間を有することを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイ装置。 - 前記行電極対を構成する行電極各々は、行方向に延びる本体部と、放電ギャップを介して互いに対向するように本体部から列方向に突出する突出部を有することを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記行電極の突出部は、放電ギャップ近傍の幅広部と、この幅広部と本体部を連結する幅狭部とを有することを特徴とする請求項2記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム層が、マグネシウムを加熱することによって発生するマグネシウム蒸気が気相酸化して得られる酸化マグネシウム単結晶体を含むことを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム層が、粒径2000オングストローム以上の酸化マグネシウム単結晶体を含んでいることを特徴とする請求項4記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム単結晶体が、波長域230〜250nm内にピークを有する前記カソードルミネッセンス発光を行うことを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム層が、前記行電極対を被覆する誘電体層上に形成されていることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記リセットパルスのピーク電圧値は前記サスティンパルスのピーク電圧値よりも大であることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記リセットパルスは、時間経過に伴って緩やかに電圧値が上昇する第1リセットパルスと、時間経過に伴って緩やかに電圧値が減少する第2リセットパルスとからなることを特徴とする請求項1記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記第2リセットパルスのピーク電圧値は、前記走査パルスが前記一方の行電極に印加されている際に他の行電極上に印加されている電圧値から、前記走査パルスのピーク電圧値までの電圧範囲内に含まれることを特徴とする請求項9記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 複数の行電極対と前記行電極対の各々に交叉した方向に伸張する複数の列電極との各交叉部に、電子線の照射によって励起されて波長域200〜300nm内にピークを有するカソードルミネッセンス発光を行う酸化マグネシウム結晶体を含む酸化マグネシウム層及び前記酸化マグネシウム層に面する放電空間を備えた表示セルが形成されているプラズマディスプレイパネルを駆動するプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法であって、
時間経過に伴い緩やかに電圧値が変化する区間を有するリセットパルスを前記行電極対に印加することにより全ての前記表示セルの前記放電空間内においてリセット放電を生起させて全ての前記表示セルを初期化するリセット行程と、
前記行電極対各々の一方の行電極に順次走査パルスを印加すると共に入力映像信号に対応したデータパルスを前記列電極各々に印加することにより前記表示セル各々の前記放電空間内において選択的に選択放電を生起させて前記表示セル各々を点灯セル状態又は消灯セル状態に設定するアドレス行程と、
前記行電極対にサスティンパルスを印加することにより前記点灯セル状態に設定された前記表示セルの前記放電空間内においてサスティン放電を生起させるサスティン行程と、を有することを特徴とするプラズマディスプレイパネルの駆動方法。 - 前記酸化マグネシウム層が、マグネシウムを加熱することによって発生するマグネシウム蒸気が気相酸化して得られる酸化マグネシウム単結晶体を含むことを特徴とする請求項11記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
- 前記酸化マグネシウム層が、粒径2000オングストローム以上の酸化マグネシウム単結晶体を含んでいることを特徴とする請求項12記載のプラズマディスプレイ装置。
