Abstract
【解決手段】少なくとも、陽極層2、有機発光媒体層3、陰極層4が積層されてなる有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子において、吸湿層5が、接着層6の内側に有機発光媒体層を囲むように形成されていること。接着層を挟持している基材1、7の少なくとも一方が、透光性を有する基材であること。

Description
トロルミネセンス素子において、吸湿層が、接着層の内側に有機発光媒体層を囲むように形成されていることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子である。
本実施形態は、有機EL素子の光取り出し方向によらず、いかなる素子構造においても使用可能である。例えば、1)透光性基材/透光性陽極層/有機発光媒体層/陰極層/封止基材の順に積層し、透光性基材側から光を取り出しても良く、2)(透光性)基材/陽極層/有機発光媒体層/透光性陰極層/透光性封止基材、もしくは(透光性)基材/陰極層/有機発光媒体層/透光性陽極層/透光性封止基材の順に積層し、透光性封止基材側から光を取り出しても良く、3)透光性基材/透光性陽極層/有機発光媒体層/透光性陰極層/透光性封止基材、もしくは透光性基材/透光性陰極層/有機発光媒体層/透光性陽極層/透光性封止基材の順に積層し、両面から光を取り出しても良い。
の金属薄膜などの薄膜を挿入することがより好ましい。
まず、基材1に陽極層2を成膜した(図1(a))後に、所定のパターンに形成して、陽極層2と陰極の取り出し電極2’とする(図1(b))。陽極層2の材料としては、ITO(インジウムスズ複合酸化物)やインジウム亜鉛複合酸化物、亜鉛アルミニウム複合酸化物などの金属複合酸化物や、金、白金などの金属材料や、これら金属酸化物や金属材料の微粒子をエポキシ樹脂やアクリル樹脂などに分散した微粒子分散膜を、単層もしくは積層して使用することができる。支持基材1側から光を取り出す場合には、透光性のある材料を用いることが好ましい。また、陽極層2の配線抵抗を低くするために、銅やアルミニウムなどの金属材料を補助電極として、陽極層2に併設してもよい。
発光層、電子輸送層からなる2層構成や正孔注入輸送層、発光層、電子注入輸送層からなる3層構成、さらには、注入層と輸送層を分けたり、電子ブロック層や正孔ブロック層などを挿入することにより、さらに多層で形成することも可能である。
ソプロピルアルコール、酢酸エチル、酢酸ブチルなどの単独溶媒でも、混合溶媒でも良い。また、塗工性向上のために、必要に応じて界面活性剤、酸化防止剤、粘度調整剤、紫外線吸収剤などの添加剤を適量混合することがより好ましい。塗布液の乾燥方法としては、EL特性に支障のない程度に溶剤を取り除ければ良く、加熱しても、減圧しても、加熱減圧しても良い。
また、光取り出し効率を向上させるために、低屈折率層を吸湿層5の内周に形成することがより好ましい。低屈折率層の材料としては、有機発光媒体層や陰極層に影響を与えなければ、液体、気体、固体でも使用しても良く、屈折率1.1以下であるシリカエアロゲルなどを用いることがより好ましい。
また、封止基材7側から光を取り出す場合には、必要に応じて、カラーフィルター層や色変換層、反射防止フィルム、偏向フィルム、防汚フィルム、耐擦傷フィルムなどを、必要に応じて設けた基材を用いても良い。
次に、有機発光媒体層3として、正孔輸送層にポリ(3,4−エチレンジオキシチオフェン)とポリスチレンスルホン酸との混合物(20nm)、蛍光体層にポリ[2−メトキシ−5−(2'−エチル−ヘキシロキシ)−1,4−フェニレンビニレン](MEHPPV)(100nm)を、それぞれスピンコート法により形成した(図1(c))。
であった。この有機EL素子に4.5Vの電圧を印可した結果、100cd/m2 の発光が透光性基材1側から得られた。また、60℃90%RH下に5000時間保存した結果、ダークスポットの拡大は観察されなかった。
実施例1の吸湿層5を設けずに有機EL素子を作製した。この有機EL素子に4.5Vの電圧を印可した結果、100cd/m2 の発光が基材1側から得られたが、接着層6が吸湿層5の内周部に侵入した部分が生じ、±10%の輝度ムラが生じた。また、60℃90%RH下に5000時間保存した結果、ダークスポットが拡大し、全く発光しなくなった。

Claims (3)
- 少なくとも、陽極層、有機発光媒体層、陰極層が積層されてなる有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子において、吸湿層が、接着層の内側に有機発光媒体層を囲むように形成されていることを特徴とする有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記接着層を挟持している基材の少なくとも一方が、透光性を有する基材であることを特徴とする請求項1記載の有機エレクトロルミネッセンス素子。
- 前記吸湿層の厚みが、接着層の厚みに対して0.5〜1.0倍であることを特徴とする請求項1又は請求項2記載の有機エレクトロルミネセンス素子。
