米国材料試験協会(ASTM)D1396−92
チップを21.0グラムのシートで製造し、50.8mm直径の10.0mm厚さディスクへとヒートプレスする。チップ製造は、シートからカットした50.8mmディスクの積み重ねを金型中で2200N力および185℃で1分間予備加熱する工程と、次にプレス力を185℃で2分間32,000Nに増やす工程と、同じ力の下で7.5分間冷却する工程とを含む。押し出されたシート上にあった何の残存表面パターンもチップには見られない。黄色度指数は10.0mm厚さチップについてASTM D1925−70によって測定した。
「チップ」検体を21.0グラムの乾燥PVB樹脂(別名フレーク)から製造する。フレーク湿気はチップ製造前に0.2%未満であるべきである。乾燥フレークを1cm厚さ、5.08cm直径の円形チップへとヒートプレスする。チップ製造は21.0グラムの乾燥PVB樹脂を次の通りホットプレスすることを含む。

チップの厚さを測定して記録し、次に黄色度指数(YID)をASTM D1925によって測定する。
Tgは、1Hzでの正接デルタを用いて、ASTM D4065の手順を用いるDMAによって測定する。
ポリ(ビニルブチラール)シートは次の通り製造した。90℃で、平均重合度618の99.5%加水分解された32重量部のポリ(ビニルアルコール)と平均重合度1005の、99.5%加水分解された68重量部のPVAとを含む混合物を615重量部の脱塩水に溶解した。この溶液に、1重量部の88%パラ−トルエンスルホン酸と溶解したPVA溶液をpH2にするのに十分な硫酸とを加えた。米国特許公報(特許文献1)に記載された手順を用いて、62重量部のn−ブチルアルデヒドと0.47重量部の70%DOSSとPVA溶液とを90℃に維持した容器中へ装入した。1時間の保持時間の後、スラリーを得て、該スラリーを水酸化ナトリウム溶液で安定化してpHを11に上げた。安定化と同時に、0.07重量部のトランス(Trans)(登録商標)290表面張力安定化剤を加えた。次にスラリーを脱塩水で洗浄し、冷却した。18.6の残存ヒドロキシル価および8.8のフレークYIDの顆粒状白色PVB樹脂を得た。フレークを、リットル当たり4グラムのチヌビン(登録商標)Pとリットル当たり8グラムのローウィノックス(Lowinox)(登録商標)44B25酸化防止剤とを含有する3GO可塑剤と混合し、押出システム中の滞留時間が約15〜25分であるように押し出した。可塑剤対乾燥フレークの供給速度比は35:100(重量:重量)であった。シート中に100万部当たり10部(ppm)のカリウム濃度をかなえるように、ギ酸カリウム溶液を注入した。スロット・ダイで測定した溶融体温度は210〜215℃であった。シートYIDは5.85であった。
界面活性剤として0.4重量部のラウリル硫酸ナトリウムをDOSSの代わりに使用し、かつ、他の何の表面張力改質剤も添加しなかったことを除いて、実施例1と同じようにPVBフレークを製造した。18.6の残存ヒドロキシル価の顆粒状白色PVB樹脂を得た。ここに記載したようなラウリル硫酸ナトリウムで製造したフレークを使用して、実施例1でのようにシートを製造した。スロット・ダイで測定した溶融体温度は210〜213℃であった。シート黄色度は25.05であった。
可塑剤中の酸化防止剤としてローウィノックス(登録商標)44B25の代わりにリットル当たり4グラムのオクチルフェノールを使用し、かつ、カリウム・レベルが100万部当たり300部(ppm)であったことを除いて、比較例C1でのようにフレークおよびシートを製造した。シート黄色度指数は13.57であった。
Claims (23)
- (I)ポリビニルアルコール、ブチルアルデヒド、酸または酸の混合物、水、および界面活性剤を混合する工程と、(II)(a)混合物のpHを少なくともpH10に上げ、(b)液体を排出することにより樹脂を単離し、(c)前記樹脂を中性pH水で洗浄することによって工程(I)で得られた混合物を安定化する工程と、(III)前記PVB樹脂の乾燥重量を基準にして約30から約50pphの可塑剤で前記PVB樹脂組成物を可塑化する工程と、(IV)任意選択的に(a)PVB漂白化合物および/または(b)酸化防止剤およびUV光安定剤を前記PVB樹脂組成物と混合する工程と、(V)前記PVB組成物を約175℃から約225℃の温度で押し出して、約32℃よりも高いガラス転移温度(Tg)および約12未満のYIDを有するPVBシートを得る工程とを含むことを特徴とするローカラーPVBシートの製造方法。
- (a)前記樹脂組成物が約30から約50pph可塑剤で可塑化され、(b)前記樹脂組成物が酸化防止剤およびUV光安定剤を含むことを特徴とする請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記酸化防止剤がジフェノール化合物であることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記樹脂組成物が約205℃から約220℃の温度で押し出されることを特徴とする請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記樹脂組成物が約210℃から約215℃の温度で押し出されることを特徴とする請求項4に記載の方法。
- 前記界面活性剤がスルホコハク酸ジアルキルであることを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記界面活性剤がDOSSであることを特徴とする請求項6に記載の方法。
- 前記樹脂組成物がPVB漂白化合物を含むことを特徴とする請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記漂白化合物が有機亜硫酸水素塩、無機亜硫酸水素塩、またはスルホコハク酸ジアルキルであることを特徴とする請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記漂白化合物がDOSSであることを特徴とする請求項9に記載の方法。
- 前記PVBが湿式法を用いて可塑化されることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記PVBが乾式法を用いて可塑化されることを特徴とする請求項10に記載の方法。
- 請求項1〜12のいずれか一項の方法によって得られたPVBシート。
- 約15から約25のヒドロキシル(OH)価を有するポリビニルブチラール、前記PVB樹脂の乾燥重量を基準にして、約30pphから約50pphの量で存在する可塑剤または可塑剤混合物、界面活性剤より本質的になり、かつ、任意選択的に(i)PVB漂白化合物か、(ii)酸化防止剤および紫外(UV)光安定剤かのいずれか、または(iii)(i)および(ii)の両方を含む可塑化PVBシート組成物であって、前記シートが12未満の黄色度指数(YID)カラーを有することを特徴とする組成物。
- 前記可塑剤が3GOであることを特徴とする請求項14に記載の組成物。
- 前記可塑剤が、前記PVB樹脂の乾燥重量を基準にして、重量で、約30から約45pphの量で存在することを特徴とする請求項15に記載の組成物。
- 前記可塑剤が約35から約45pphの量で存在することを特徴とする請求項16に記載の組成物。
- 前記PVBが界面活性剤、漂白化合物、酸化防止剤、およびUV光安定剤を含むことを特徴とする請求項17に記載の組成物。
- 前記界面活性剤および前記漂白化合物が同じ化合物であることを特徴とする請求項18に記載の組成物。
- 前記界面活性剤がDOSSであることを特徴とする請求項19に記載の組成物。
- 前記酸化防止剤がビスフェノール化合物であることを特徴とする請求項20に記載の組成物。
- 前記酸化防止剤が2,2’−メチレンビス(6−t−ブチル−4−メチルフェノール)であることを特徴とする請求項21に記載の組成物。
- 請求項14に記載のPVB組成物の少なくとも1つの層を含むことを特徴とする積層物品。
