Claims (16)
- 基材を提供する工程と、
前記基材上にエッジ材料を被覆する工程と、
前記基材上にカソード材料を被覆する工程と、
を含み、前記被覆材料及び前記エッジ材料が互いに接触し、かつ前記被覆されたカソード材料のエッジの厚さ分布が、前記エッジ材料なしで被覆されたカソード材料のエッジの厚さ分布に対して改良される、基材を電気化学電池用のカソード材料で被覆する方法。 - 前記被覆されたカソード材料がテーパ付きエッジを含み、エッジ材料が被覆されて前記テーパ付きエッジを少なくとも部分的に覆い、カソード材料およびエッジ材料の組合わせた乾燥厚さに基づいてテーパ付きカソード材料エッジの所望の乾燥厚さ分布を生じる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- カソード材料のバルク部分が所望の乾燥厚さに被覆され、前記カソード材料エッジの厚さ分布が、前記カソード材料の前記所望の乾燥厚さを、10パーセント以内の近似値とする実質的に均一な乾燥厚さを含む、請求項2に記載の方法。
- カソード材料を被覆するための第1のスロット及びエッジ材料を前記カソード材料のエッジと接触させて被覆するための第2のスロットを有するダイコータを用いて前記カソード材料及び前記エッジ材料を前記基材上に被覆する工程を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- エッジ材料が、カソード材料が接してエッジを形成する物理的境界として作用し、前記カソード材料が、前記基材上に被覆された後に分離状態に保たれる、請求項1に記載の方法。
- カソード材料のバルク部分が、約3〜約100ミクロンの範囲の乾燥厚さに被覆され、前記被覆されたカソード材料のエッジの幅が、約0.1〜約3mmの範囲である、請求項5に記載の方法。
- カソード材料を被覆するための第1のスロット及びエッジ材料を被覆するための第2のスロットを有するダイコータを用いてカソード材料及びエッジ材料を基材上に被覆する工程を含み、シムが各スロットに配置され、エッジ材料のストライプが、移動基材上にカソード材料のストライプに隣接して被覆されるようにする、請求項5に記載の方法。
- カソード材料を基材上に押出被覆する工程と、前記カソード材料をカレンダー加工する工程と、電気絶縁エッジ材料を前記カレンダー加工されたカソード材料のエッジと接触させて押出被覆する工程と、を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記電気絶縁ポリマーが、ポリウレタン、ポリカーボネート、ポリオレフィン、ポリビニルエーテル、イソシアネート、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、ポリアクリレート、及びそれらの組合せからなる群から選択される、請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記カソード材料が、電極活性材料、電気導電性材料、イオン導電性ポリマー、及び電解質塩を含む、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 基材を提供する工程と、
非粘弾性の、ポリマー含有電気絶縁エッジ材料を前記基材上に被覆する工程と、
被覆材料を前記基材上に被覆する工程と、を含み、
前記被覆材料及びエッジ材料が互いに接触し、前記被覆材料のエッジの厚さ分布が、前記エッジ材料なしで製造された被覆材料のエッジの厚さ分布に対して改良される、基材を被覆材料で被覆する方法。 - 前記エッジ材料が、ポリウレタン、ポリカーボネート、ポリオレフィン、ポリビニルエーテル、イソシアネート、ポリプロピレン、ポリエチレン、及びポリアクリレートからなる群から選択されたポリマーを含む、請求項11に記載の方法。
- アノードと、前記アノードの表面に隣接した表面を有するセパレータと、前記セパレータの別の表面に隣接した表面を有するカソードと、前記カソードのエッジと接触しているエッジ材料と、前記カソードの表面と接触している集電体と、を含み、前記エッジ材料が前記カソードのエッジに対して防湿バリヤとして作用する、バッテリー部品。
- 前記エッジ材料が絶縁材料である、請求項13に記載のバッテリー。
- 順に以下の層、すなわち、
アノード、
第1のセパレータ、
第1のカソード、
集電体、
第2のカソード、
