Abstract
【解決手段】 コーディエライト等の基材セラミックの構成元素の一部を置換することにより触媒成分を直接担持可能としたセラミック担体に、主触媒成分である貴金属と、複数の酸素吸蔵能を有する助触媒成分を担持する。助触媒層は、最外層を最も耐熱性の高い材料とし、最内層を酸素吸蔵能の高い材料で構成して、担持量を増大させずに、耐熱性を向上させる。

Description
本発明の効果を確認するために、以下の方法で図1に示す構造のセラミック触媒体を製造した。まず、コーディエライト化原料として、タルク、カオリン、アルミナおよび水酸化アルミニウムを使用し、Al源の10%をAlと価数が異なる酸化タングステンとして、コーディエライトの理論組成点付近となるように調合した。この調合原料に、バインダ、潤滑剤および保湿剤、水分を適量添加し、混練して粘土状としたものを、セル壁厚100μm、セル密度400cpsi(1平方インチ当たりのセル個数)、直径50mmのハニカム形状に成形した。得られたハニカム成形体を、大気雰囲気で1250〜1390℃で焼成して、コーディエライトハニカム構造体よりなる直接担持セラミック担体を得た。
比較のため、助触媒層をCeリッチのOSC材(CeO2 :75%、ZrO2 :25%)で構成した以外は、実施例1と同様の方法でセラミック触媒体を作製した(比較例1)。また、助触媒層をZrリッチのOSC材(ZrO2 :72%、CeO2 :21%、La2 O3 :1.5%、Nd2 O3 :5.5%)で構成した以外は、実施例1と同様の方法でセラミック触媒体を作製した(比較例2)。なお、比較例1、2における助触媒成分の担持量は、実施例1における助触媒成分の合計の担持量と同量となるようにした。
Claims (19)
- 基材セラミック表面に触媒成分を直接担持可能なセラミック担体に、主触媒成分および助触媒成分を担持してなるセラミック触媒体であって、上記助触媒成分として2種類以上の材料を使用し、これら材料を上記セラミック担体の表面に順に担持させて複数層からなる助触媒層を形成するとともに、上記助触媒層のうちの最外層が、最も耐熱性の高い材料からなることを特徴とするセラミック触媒体。
- 上記基材セラミックが多数の気孔を有する構造であり、上記助触媒層のうちの最内層が、これら気孔の内表面に形成されている請求項1記載のセラミック触媒体。
- 上記基材セラミックが多数の気孔を有する構造であり、上記助触媒層のうちの最内層が、これら気孔の内表面を含む上記セラミック担体表面に形成されている請求項1記載のセラミック触媒体。
- 上記助触媒成分が酸素吸蔵能成分を含む請求項1ないし3のいずれか記載のセラミック触媒体。
- 上記酸素吸蔵能成分が、ランタノイド系元素およびY、Zr、Hfから選ばれる少なくとも1種類ないしそれ以上の元素を含有する酸化物または複合酸化物である請求項4記載のセラミック触媒体。

- 上記セラミック担体は、上記基材セラミック表面に触媒を直接担持可能な多数の細孔を有しており、この細孔に対して上記触媒成分を直接担持可能である請求項1ないし8のいずれか記載のセラミック触媒体。
- 上記細孔が、セラミック結晶格子中の欠陥、セラミック表面の微細なクラック、およびセラミックを構成する元素の欠損のうち、少なくとも1種類からなる請求項13記載のセラミック触媒体。
- 上記微細なクラックの幅が100nm以下である請求項14記載のセラミック触媒体。
- 上記細孔が、担持する触媒イオンの直径の1000倍以下の直径あるいは幅を有し、この細孔の数が、1×1011個/L以上である請求項13記載のセラミック触媒体。
