Description
Claims (1)
- 【特許請求の範囲】 1.複合パティキュレート材料の製造方法であって、 主材料軟化温度を有する主材料粒子を提供するステップと、 支持材料軟化温度を有する支持材料粒子を提供するステップと、 前記主材料軟化温度及び前記支持材料軟化温度よりも低い軟化温度を有するバ インダ材粒子を提供するステップと、 前記主材料、前記支持材料、及び前記バインダ材を混合して、実質的に均質な 混合物を提供するステップと、 前記混合物を前記バインダ材の軟化温度以上でかつ前記主材料軟化温度及び前 記支持材料軟化温度よりも低い温度に加熱するステップと、を有し、これにより 、前記バインダ材は、複合パティキュレート材料が得られるように前記主材料を 前記支持材料に結合させることを特徴とする方法。 2.前記主材料粒子は、約1〜約200マイクロメーターの直径を有し、前記 支持材料粒子は、約1〜約2,500マイクロメーターの直径を有し、かつ、前 記バインダ材は、約1〜約150マイクロメーターの直径を有することを特徴と する請求項1記載の方法。 3.前記主材料は、その粒径が実質的に均一であり、前記支持材料は、その粒 径が実質的に均一で前記主材料の粒径よりも大きくなっていることを特徴とする 請求項1記載の方法。 4.前記加熱ステップの間に前記混合物を撹拌するステップを有し、これによ り、複合パティキュレート材料は、非一体的な状態に維持されることを特徴とす る請求項1記載の方法。 5.前記混合物の加熱ステップでは、前記混合物が大気圧で加熱されることを 特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 6.前記主材料を提供するステップは、無機水和金属酸化物、アモルファス金 属珪酸塩、ゼオライト、及びこれらの任意混合物のいずれかから選択される主材 料を提供するステップを有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 7.前記主材料は、無機水和チタン酸化物、無機水和錫酸化物、及びこれらの 混合物のいずれかから選択されることを特徴とする請求項6記載の方法。 8.前記主材料は、チタン珪酸塩、錫珪酸塩及びこれらの混合物のいずれかか ら選択されることを特徴とする請求項6記載の方法。 9.前記支持材料を提供するステップは、多孔性支持材料、非多孔性支持材料 、及びこれらの混合物のいずれかから選択される支持材料を提供するステップを 有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 10.前記支持材料は、粒状の活性炭であることを特徴とする請求項9記載の 方法。 11.前記主材料と前記支持材料との少なくとも一つは、チタン珪酸塩、錫珪 酸塩及びこれらの混合物のいずれかから選択されることを特徴とする請求項1記 載の方法。 12.前記主材料と前記支持材料の少なくとも一方は、脱着ポア体積が1グラ ムあたり約0.03〜約0.25立方センチメートルであるセラミックイオン交 換メディアであることを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 13.前記バインダ材粒子を提供するステップは、結晶質熱可塑性ポリマー、 熱可塑性ポリマー、結晶質ポリマー及びこれらの任意混合物のいずれかから選択 されるバインダを提供するステップを有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の方 法。 14.前記バインダ材粒子を提供するステップは、ポリオレフィン、ポリアミ ド及びこれらの任意混合物のいずれかからバインダ材を選択して提供するステッ プを有することを特徴とする請求項13記載の方法。 15.前記バインダ材粒子を提供するステップは、ポリエチレン、 ポリプロピレン、エチレンビニルアセテート及びこれらの任意混合物のうちから 選択されるバインダ材を提供するステップを有することを特徴とする請求項1記 載の方法。 16.前記バインダ材の軟化温度は、約150°F〜約275°Fであること を特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 17.前記バインダ材の軟化温度は、約250°F〜約400°Fであること を特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 18.前記混合ステップは、前記主材料、前記支持材料及び前記バインダ材を 混合して前記混合物中に少なくとも約5重量%のバインダ材が存在するようにす るステップを更に有することを特徴とする請求項1記載の方法。 19.前記バインダ材は、前記混合物中に約5〜約25重量%存在することを 特徴とする請求項18記載の方法。 20.前記混合物の加熱ステップでは、前記主材料と前記支持材料とに接触し て実質的に粘性を有するバインダ材を有する加熱された混合物が提供され、かつ 、前記加熱された混合物を室温に戻すステップを更に有し、これにより、粘性を 有するバインダ材料が固化して主材料を支持材料に接着させることを特徴とする 請求項1記載の方法。 21.前記加熱された混合物を室温に戻すステップの間に、加熱された混合物 を撹拌するステップを有し、これにより、加熱された混合物は、バインダ材が固 化する間に粒状のままに維持されることを特徴とする請求項20記載の方法。 22.水溶液系及び気相系での重金属の除去処理に用いられる複合パティキュ レート材料の製造方法であって、前記複合パティキュレート材料は、重金属の除 去に活性を有する主材料粒子、前記主材料を支持するための支持材料粒子、及び 前記主材料を前記支持材料に結合させるためのバインダ材を有しており、 主材料軟化温度を有して約1〜約200マイクロメーターの粒径を有する主材 料粒子を提供するステップと、 支持材料軟化温度を有して約1〜約2,500マイクロメーターの粒径を有す る支持材料粒子を提供するステップと、 前記主材料軟化温度及び前記支持材料軟化温度よりも低い軟化温度を有して約 1〜約150マイクロメーターの粒径を有するバインダ材粒子を提供するステッ プと、 前記主材料、前記支持材料、及び前記バインダ材を混合して、実質的に均質な 混合物を提供するステップと、 前記混合物を、前記バインダ材の軟化温度以上でかつ前記主材料軟化温度及び 前記支持材料軟化温度よりも低い温度に加熱するステップと、を有し、これによ り、前記バインダ材は、複合パティキュレート材料が得られるように前記主材料 を前記支持材料に結合させ ることを特徴とする方法。 23.水溶液から重金属を除去するための複合パティキュレート材料であって 、 無機水和金属酸化物、アモルファス金属珪酸塩、ゼオライト、及びこれらの任 意混合物のいずれかから選択される主材料粒子と、 支持材料粒子と、 前記主材料と前記とに接着されて前記主材料を前記支持材料に結合させるバイ ンダ材粒子と、を有し、これにより、前記複合パティキュレート材料は、摩耗に 対する耐性を有することを特徴とする複合パティキュレート材料。 24.前記主材料は、無機水和チタン酸化物、無機水和錫酸化物、及びこれら の混合物のいずれかから選択されることを特徴とする請求項23記載の複合パテ ィキュレート材料。 25.前記主材料は、チタン珪酸塩を含むことを特徴とする請求項23記載の 複合パティキュレート材料。 26.前記支持材料は、粒状活性炭を含むことを特徴とする請求項23記載の 複合パティキュレート材料。 27.前記主材料と前記支持材料の少なくとも一方は、脱着ポア体積が1グラ ムあたり約0.03〜約0.25立方センチメートル であるセラミックイオン交換メディアであることを特徴とする請求項23記載の 複合パティキュレート材料。 28.前記バインダ材は、結晶質熱可塑性ポリマー、熱可塑性ポリマー、結晶 質ポリマー及びこれらの任意混合物のいずれかから選択されることを特徴とする 請求項23記載の複合パティキュレート材料。 29.前記バインダ材は、ポリオレフィン、ポリアミド及びこれらの任意混合 物のいずれかから選択されることを特徴とする請求項23記載の複合パティキュ レート材料。 30.前記バインダ材粒子は、ポリエチレン、ポリプロピレン、エチレンビニ ルアセテート及びこれらの任意混合物のうちから選択されるバインダ材から選択 されることを特徴とする請求項23記載の複合パティキュレート材料。 31.前記複合材料は、前記バインダのない材料に比較して、耐摩耗性が高い ことを特徴とする請求項23記載の複合パティキュレート材料。
