Abstract

991,358. Oscillating column combustion chambers. JUNKERS & CO. G.m.b.H. Dec. 6, 1963 [Dec. 24, 1962], No. 48227/63. Heading F1L. In a pulsating burner having a combustion chamber (not shown), communicating at its outlet with a resonant tube (not shown) and at its inlet with a mixing throat 11, an annular sound-damping chamber 60 surrounds the mixing throat and is provided with a non- return fuel valve 24 through which the fuel passes from the chamber 60 to the mixing throat. The fuel is supplied to the chamber 60 through a coupling (not shown) on its outer wall 62. The fuel valve 24 comprises a resilient ring associated with an apertured annular valve seat 20 formed on the base 16 of a box 15 connected to the inner wall 63 and the outer wall 62 of the sound-damping chamber 60. The inner wall 63 is threaded on to a sleeve (not shown), on the mixing throat 11. The box 15 is formed with two further apertured annular seats 30, 40 with which are associated resilient rings 34, 44 forming non-return valves controlling the supply of air into the mixing throat. Apertured stroke limiting shoulders 22, 32, 42 are provided for the three valves. The box is made in two parts connected together at their edges by a slotted clamping ring 53 having a clamping device (not shown).
