Abstract

1,269,092. Controlling gas burners. COMBUSTION ENG. Inc. 24 April, 1969 [25 April, 1968], No. 21082/69. Heading F4T. A gas burner, stated to have a turndown ratio of the order of 10 to 1, has separate primary and secondary air supplies and gas supplies, the secondary air and gas supplies being adjustable so that, as the burner output is increased, they supply an increasing proportion of the total fuel and air. Primary air passes from chamber 52 to chamber 56 where it passes through swirl vanes 46 before meeting primary gas issuing from outlets 29 of annular chamber 32 which is connected to a gas supply by pipe 36. Secondary air passes through control dampers 62, swirl vanes 58 and annular chamber 60 to meet secondary gas issuing from outlets (not shown) of annular chamber 34 which is fed by pipe 38 containing a control valve 74. Valve 74 and dampers 62 are both adjusted by a linkage from control means 76 is response to changes in pressure differential between sensors 80 and 82. The apparatus may also include a convenventional igniter 40 and an oil burner 42.
