The window of a respiratory mask is curved to form part of the surface of a cone, the apex of which is located on, or near to, the front edge of the window and the window includes a front wall, at said front edge, transverse to the cone axis. Preferably the window 1 is made of transparent synthetic resin and, in the form shown, the apex is adjacent the flattened front wall 7. The window is continued to form a major segment of the cone and has its edges bent outwards to provide a flange which is engaged in a corresponding recess in a rim 16 in the rubber face piece 14. Such a window may be fitted with a wiper blade for removing internal condensation, this being mounted on a pivot coaxial with the cone and passing through the flattened wall 7, to be actuated by an external handle. However, the mask is also preferably provided with an internal deflector 24 shaped to direct exhaled air towards the exhalation valve.
