Abstract
510,491. Respiratory appliances. BAER, J., BAER, G., and URBAN, A. Sept. 21, 1938. No. 27573. [Class 81 (ii)] In respiratory appliances comprising an inner mask a covering the nose and mouth, a filter b connected to the inner mask, and an outer mask e, an exhaling valve d is provided in the wall of the inner mask a and the inhaling valve c is disposed between the mask a and the filter. The masks e, a, may be secured by straps g, g<1>, and a pressure relief valve f may be provided in the wall of the outer mask e. In a modification mask e is in the form of a hood enclosing the head and fitting closely around the nape of the neck, or pleated and secured around the neck by a strap, a single strap such as g passing around the head, being provided for both masks. Valve d may be a disc or a flap valve. The inner mask may be of light metal, synthetic resin, moulded cellulose material, or natural or synthetic rubber.
