Abstract

1,272,576. Respiratory masks. CHAPMAN & SMITH Ltd. 15 July; 1969 [17 April, 1968], No. 18085/68. Heading A5T. A one-piece rubber face mask comprising a body portion 1 having, at one end, a housing 2 for retaining a filter, and at the other end a pneumatic ring 3, to enclose the nose and mouth of a user, an exhalation valve (not shown) in the body portion 1 and a tube 4, in the pneumatic ring, through which air may be passed to inflate the ring. The housing 2 comprises an annular channel 5 formed by an inturned lip 6, to hold a filter disc or cartridge, the channel may also be triangular, rectangular or polygonal shaped. The mask has an attached retaining band to hold it against the face, in use. The mask is made by multiple dipping using a set of shaped formers.
