Abstract

1462553 Surgical masks J GNEHM and D J GOOD 6 May 1975 [7 May 1974] 18873/75 Heading A5T A mask for surgical use or child welfare, comprises a covering 1 of rubber or synthetic resin for the nose and the mouth of a wearer, one or more one-way valves 5, 6 urged into the closed position by a respective spring and permitting the entry of outside air into the mask when the wearer breaths in, and at least one exchangeable filter 2 for retaining germs and through which exhaled air passes. The periphery 1' of the covering is readily deformable and contains a wire (10) Fig. 2, (not shown) therein so that the periphery retains a deformed shape. Attachments 3, 4 for an elastic securing tape 7 are provided on the mask. The filter is force-fitted into the cavity of a projection 1" at the bottom of the mask.
