Abstract
815,500. Respiratory appliances. TAYLOR, E. H., and BAXTER WOODHOUSE & TAYLOR Ltd. June 10, 1955 [March 12, 1954], No. 7282/54. Class 81 (2). In a pressure helmet 1 having an operable vizor 2 of the type described in Specification 815,498, a closable aperture is provided at 114 in the breathing mask 99 opposite the mouth of the wearer. The aperture tube 100 is rigidly secured in the helmet shell 1 and the breathing mask edge 106 is sealed into the groove 103 by the wire 104. The cover 114 which forms an air-tight seal over 100 at the groove and rubber seating 117, 118 is secured by the screw 124. The cover 114 which is held in the open position by the spring 120, is brightly coloured to attract the wearer's attention when open. In a second embodiment, not shown, the cover 114 is maintained closed by a spring catch mounted on the vizor bar 5. To permit adjustment of 114 to effect a gas-tight seal, the hinge pin 113 is mounted eccentrically.
