Abstract
668,976. Surgical masks. HOBSON, C. W. March 22, 1950, No. 7158/50. Class 81 (ii). [Also in Group XX] An operating face mask comprises a fabric pouch enclosing the mouth, nose and chin, extending to form corners adjacent the cheek bones, and a pair of supporting arms connected to the corners and fitting around and over the wearer's ears. In one form, one piece of fabric 11, of approximately rectangular form, extends over the front of the face and an approximately triangular panel 12 is sewn to its lower edge. Earpieces which may be elastic or adjustable (see Group XX) engage the upper corners by means of buttons or hooks and keep the mask taut over the face by exerting substantially equal tensions along the upper and lower edges. In a modified form the mask is made of two pieces joined along a line extending from the chin to the cheek bones, (see Fig. 3 (not shown) Specification 614,668 is referred to.
