Abstract

893,614. Respiratory appliances. VERNON & CO. Ltd. Feb. 1, 1961 [Feb. 10, 1960], No. 4640/60. Class 81 (2). A disposable surgical mask comprises a pad A of bonded, unwoven cotton fibres partially covered externally with a sterilized synthetic resin film B with elastic cord F attached along its upper and lower edges, the elastic cord being continued beyond the pad A to form loops C for passing around the user's ears. The film portion B preferably has a polyamide base and is attached by the lines of stitching which hold the elastic cord F in place and also by short oblique lines of stitching G which help to keep the mask close against the cheeks.
