The type of face mask which comprises a metal support A carrying .a fabric pad A<SP>1</SP> is provided with a detachable eyeshield E. The shield is preferably of flexible transparent material and is attached to the mask by keyhole slots E3 engaging studs F on the mask, the latter preferably being of flexible rubberlike material. The spacing of the slots is slightly greater than that of the studs, so that the upper part E<SP>1</SP> of the shield is distorted slightly in a backward direction and thus tends to follow the inclination of the forehead.
