Abstract

723,031. Securing hats to the head. MOLLER, A. H. Jan. 21, 1953 [April 7, 1952], No. 8833/52. Class 63. A head-gripping device incorporated with or for use in the construction of hats comprises two or more springy C-shaped members capable of obtaining a grip on the head of the wearer at positions one in front of the other, each member A, B comprising a strip 1 of vulcanized fibre, thin cardboard &c. to which a blade spring 3 is attached as by rivets 4, 4a, and the members being enclosed in a flexible housing. Each member has a laterally projecting ear 2 which overlaps the adjacent end of the other member: the members may be pivoted together by the rivets 4, 4a. The members are encased individually in flexible sleeves, the ends of which intercommunicat laterally. The sleeves are closed at each end and their adjacent cut-away lateral edges are stitched at 7 on the outer face of the device but are left open on the inner face to provide entrance for the members A and B.
