Abstract

964,608. Respiratory appliances. B. F. GOODRICH CO. April 19, 1962 [April 21, 1961], No. 15303/62. Heading A5T. In a helmet for high altitude use the wearer's face is held forward against sealing means by tensioning means attached to the rear of the helmet and provided with external adjusting means. The resilient face sealing means 19, Fig. 2, is associated with a rigid metal member 20 having lugs 21, 22 through which tensioning straps 23 pass and these extend from a pair of head cushions 28, 28, through the lugs 21, 22 and suitable guides 32, Fig. 3, on the helmet shell to a winding spindle 26 associated with an external operating knob 25. When the visor is lowered, it is sealed by introducing pressure into a tube 13a, Fig. 2, and oxygen is supplied to the wearer through a tube 13b, Fig. 3. Specification 926,500 is referred to.
