Abstract

982,586. Hot-water boilers. STOOKWERK N.V. Aug. 22, 1962 [Aug. 22, 1961], No. 30183/61. Heading F4A. A central heating boiler comprises a vertical cylindrical shell 1 within which is eccentrically mounted above an ash pit 10 a vertical cylindrical furnace tube 2 provided at its lower end with a grate 3 supplied with solid fuel, for example, by the delivery apparatus described in Specification 982,585, through a conduit extending downwardly into the furnace tube and at its upper end with a closure plate 19 having two substantially oval apertures 7 through which combustion gases flow into two cylindrical chambers 6 mounted on and partially overhanging the furnace tube. Two wide-bore down-flow flue tubes 9 convey the gases from each chamber 6 to a lower gas reversal chamber 11 whence a group of narrowbore smoke tubes carry the gases upwardly to a chimney outlet 16. The shell 1 constitutes the water space of the boiler and is connected to the heating circuit by flow and return pipes 21,22. Specifications 816,745 also is referred to.
