Abstract
1,029,072. Boiler furnaces; hot water boilers. H. VIESSMANN. April 19, 1963 [April 28, 1962], No. 15497/63. Headings F4A and F4B. A hot water boiler comprises a gas or liquid fuel furnace of rectangular horizontal crosssection enclosed all round by water bearing double walls one of which contains a shielded oblong outlet communicating with a flue. As shown, the boiler comprises a solid fuel furnace 2 and an oil furnace 3 which extends traversely of the boiler and is fired by a burner inserted through an aperture near the base of the furnace. Combustion gases leave the top of the furnace 3 through an aperture 9 in the wall 10 separating the furnaces and with gases from furnace 2 exhaust through flues 4 following the flow paths indicated. The wall 10 forming the lower edge of aperture 9 is bent so as to project into furnace 3 and a water bearing screen is located opposite the aperture. In a modification the flues are divided by a vertical partition so that the gases flow up and down the flues before discharge.
