Abstract
1,032,344. Furnaces &c. grates. EARLEYMIL Ltd., and I. H. B. MACDONALD. Sept. 19, 1962 [Sept. 27, 1961], No. 34705/61. Heading F4B. In a fire hearth for a water-tube boiler which comprises a dome-shaped fuel distributer 4 on to which solid fuel is fed from a tube 3 leading from a hopper 2, combustion air being supplied by a fan through a duct 13 to apertures disposed around the base of the distributer, the distributer is hollow and is cooled by a flow of water forming part of the internal circulating system of the boiler. Water enters the distributer through curved pipes 5, 6 connected respectively to pipes 7, 10 which are connected at flanges 9, 12 to lower tube bank headers of the boiler. The water leaves the distributer through a pipe 19, 20 connected to an upper tube bank header. A duct 17 passing coaxially through the pipe 19 conveys secondary air to a U-shaped distributor pipe 18.
