1,261,411. Removing particles from smoke. WASTE COMBUSTION CORP. 8 July, 1969 [9 July, 1968], No. 34326/69. Heading BIT. [Also in Division F4] Waste gases from the combustion chamber of an incinerator 12 flow through an upright passage 118 to an inclined conduit 122 which extends through an upright partition 110 dividing a cylindrical casing 106 forming the fly-ash collector. Combustible matter in the gases is burnt by the flame from a burner 132 at the closed end of conduit 122, or as the gases issue from the conduit with air preheated in a passage formed by a partition 126 within the conduit. The outlet pipe 116 leading to stack 114 projects into the part of the casing on the other side of partition 110 from the outlet of conduit 122, and extends below the top of the partition, as the reversal of the direction of flow of the gases passing from the conduit to the stack deposits the fly-ash.
