Abstract

1321387 Burning liquid refuse NITTETSU CHEMICAL ENG CO Ltd 4 June 1971 [6 June 1970 26 June 1970] 19120/71 Heading F4B A plant for disposing of liquid waste containing a mixture of organic and inorganic substances or organo-metallic compounds comprises an evaporator for concentrating the liquid waste, a spray nozzle for injecting the concentrated waste into an incineration furnace, the combustion products from the furnace being passed at least in part into a receiving vessel for recovering ash in the form of an aqueous solution or slurry and at least in part to the evaporator. In the form shown, the combustion products are passed in parallel from the furnace 8 into the receiving vessel 15 and into direct contact with the waste in the evaporator 3, the gaseous output therefrom passing to a gas scrubber 25 via valves 23, 24 respectively. A pipe 10 delivers compressed air or steam to the spray nozzle 9 and to an auxiliary fuel burner 14. A blower 11 delivers combustion air to the nozzle 9 and burner 14. Water and waste delivered through pipes 16 and 16a respectively to vessel 15 and evaporator 3 pass down the inside of vertical tubes 18, 5. In another embodiment, all the combustion products pass through the vessel 15 to an indirect contact evaporator.
