Abstract

1444420 Incinerators C E & E BRULE' Inc 12 Sept 1973 [14 Sept 1972] 42780/73 Heading F4B Solid, liquid or gaseous wastes are burned in a cylindrical combustion chamber to which preheated air is fed tangentially to form a layer along the sidewall, and fuel is introduced through one end of the chamber, the proportion or waste, fuel and air being controlled to produce efficient combustion and maintain a layer of air along the combustion chamber wall to an open end. Air, preheated in a jacket 21 is swirled by baffles 22 to emerge from tangentially directed nozzles. Waste is fed in the form of a slurry, a liquid or gas to a central post 16 and additional fuel or liquid or gaseous combustible waste is fed to a ring of nozzles 18 which may be tangential. The end of the combustion chamber remote from the nozzles opens into a chamber 31, where solid residues are deposited, and the gases are fed to a stack 30.
