Abstract
1491526 Fluidized bed combustion apparatus ZJEDNOCZENIE PRZEMYSLU CERAMIKI BUDOWLANEJ 14 Feb 1975 [28 Feb 1974 28 Dec 1974] 6267/75 Heading F4B Solid fuel or solid waste such as colliery washings are burned or gasified in a combustion chamber having an annular fluidized bed in its bottom portion, to which air is supplied at an angle of between 0-20 degrees to the tangent and between 0-20 degrees to the horizontal and from which ashes are withdrawn through a tangential passage. Solid fuel is supplied above the bed at 5, Fig. 1, and the gases produced are withdrawn tangentially. The fluidizing air is delivered to the bed from a plenum chamber 3 through the tangentially directed gaps 2 between a number of radial, overlapping plates. A stub pipe 6 enables ash to be withdrawn from the bed. The bed may have a solid floor, air being delivered through the walls of the bed, or from ring mains 9 projecting upwardly into the bed, Fig. 8. The bottom of the bed may be porous, additional air being supplied tangentially from the walls, or from ring mains in the bed. The temperature of the bed is controlled by a water jacket.
