Abstract

1435307 Incinerators B V PEXIMAC 22 Nov 1973 [24 Nov 1972] 54324/73 Heading F4B An incinerator for household refuse and industrial waste has burners 29, 30 in a combustion chamber divided into zones 2, 3, and 4, each equipped with a wind box 5, 6 and 7 below a grate, the grates having openings 11, 12 and 13 with deflecting members disposed at an angle. Conduits 15, 16 and 17 supply air through the inclined deflecting members at a pressure sufficient to fluidize refuse in the three zones and, in co-operation with the deflecting members to advance refuse from the incinerator inlet lock 33 towards the outlet 34. Air mixed with combustion gases from zone 4 passes through boxes 18-24 that surround the combustion chamber. Secondary combustion means 31 and 32 are provided and circulation through the boxes is controlled by valves 25- 28. Air supply to the combustion chamber in conduits 15-17 is preheated by the circulating combustion gases before the latter discharge from box 24 to a purifying and dust separating device. In a modified version of the furnace the three combustion zones are mounted one on top of the other, Fig. 2 (not shown). The incinerator may be constructed of light metallic elements, and may be the basis of both a mobile unit and a large capacity plant.
