846,659. Hot-water boilers; water-supply and delivery arrangements. ORR & SEMBOWER Inc. Jan. 16, 1959 [Jan. 22, 1958], No. 1710/59. Class 64(1) A horizontal, cylindrical boiler, having a combustion tube 14, Fig. 3, in a water space which also contains tubes 16 below and on each side of the tube 14 for passing the flue gases back and forth, has the water inlet 18 at the middle of its top with a flat tubular endpiece 22 below the water level 20 and with two opposed outlets 24 which direct the incoming water to the sides of the boiler. The outlet 30, Fig. 2, has a flange 32 bolted on a seal 36 on the flange of a tube 26 and is also located at the top of the boiler, between the inlet 18 and one end. It has a baffle 44 spaced from its lower opening 42. A nipple 38 on the tube 26 is for the mounting of a valve by which gas or steam may be vented from the boiler or by which inert gas may be introduced. Instead of there being an expansion space above the cold-water level 20, the boiler may be filled and a separate expansion tank provided.
