Equipment such as an amplifier, oscillator or multiplier includes an input radial cavity resonator; a valve having its grid 8 in the plane of a disc wall 2 of the resonator and its cathode 9 inside the resonator, the valve being adjacent the annular ring portion 1 of the resonator; a tuning plunger 12; and a further capacitive plunger 15 situated at a point between the valve and the tuning plunger 12. Adjustment of the plunger 15 matches the input admittance of the valve to the admittance of the cavity without the need to adjust the distance d. As described, the valve is a triode and has an output cavity 2, 4, 5, the anode 6 of the valve being inside the output cavity. Tuning of the output cavity is by means of a capacitive plunger 14, similar to the input tuning plunger 12, which may also be capacitive. A tetrode may be used in place of a triode.
