Abstract
964,005. Egg cartons. CHAMBON Ltd. June 4, 1963 [June 21, 1962], No. 23918/62. Heading B8P. A blank for an egg carton with three transverse lines of weakening 1, 2, 3 (considering the lower half only of Fig. 1) has a plurality of tongues 6, 4, 7 of which at least some have laterally projecting lugs 8, 9; slits 10, 11, 12 extend between and beyond the first two lines of weakening 1, 2 and slots 21 are aligned therewith beyond the third line of weakening 3, the edges of which are formed to engage the lugs 8, 9. A blank for two rows of egg cells consists of two parts as above, of which the second is a mirror image of the first about the line of weakening 5 (Figs. 1 and 2). The slits 10, 11, 12 are surrounded by lines of weakening 13, 14 and flaps 15-20 are folded downwards into the carton to protect the eggs. Slits 23 extend from the ends of the slots 21 which are also partially surrounded by lines of weakening 35 so that flaps can be down-folded leaving tabs 24 to support the eggs off the surface on which the carton rests. The lines of weakening are made by scoring, perforating or creasing the sheet.
