A carton, erected from a blank, has a tearstrip 2 defined by lines of weakening 3, 4 on the inner and outer surfaces of the carton and a slot 5 formed in the side adjacent the side with a glued joint 1 and having an edge spaced from the common edge of these two sides. A tab 6 is formed to facilitate removal of the tearstrip 2.
